Toyota Motor Philippines awards 2022 GAZOO Racing Vios Cup circuit, autocross champions

Toyota Motor Philippines has awarded the 2022 champions of the country’s premier one-make racing series.
The carmaker announced in a press statement that it conducted a ceremony for the season’s circuit and autocross winners of the Toyota GAZOO Racing Vios Cup on February 2023.
Starting with the Circuit Championship, young racing ace Inigo Anton of Toyota North Edsa-Obengers Racing Team clinched the top title in the Super Sporting category.
Joining him on the podium were Gerald Loy of R Racing Team in 2nd place and John Dizon of Funhanmart-Obengers Racing Team in 3rd.
For the Sporting Class, Royce Sarmiento of RMS Cars Racing Team topped the field, followed by Toyota Otis-Obengers Racing Team’s Joaquin Garrido and celebrity racer Troy Montero in 2nd and 3rd, respectively.
Finally, Jay Lao of Happy Hotels/OTR Racing Team took home the championship in the Promotional Class. Iloilo native Ian Rosales of Toyota Team Cebu finished 2nd overall, with his teammate Alan Palacios getting 3rd.
Autocross winners hailed
The Toyota GAZOO Racing Vios Cup also hosts the Autocross Challenge, where participants go head-to-head in automatic versions of the Toyota Vios Cup Car.
Among the drivers in the Influencer Advanced Class, Jules Aquino finished 1st overall, followed by Enzo Pineda in 2nd and Arron Villaflor in 3rd place.
Miguel Romulo, meanwhile, was on the top step for the Influencer Beginner Class. Flanking him were two ladies – Carla Lizardo in 2nd place and Ashley Gosiengfiao in 3rd.
Members of the motoring media also had a go in the Autocross Challenge.
Jamil Lacuna of AutoIndustriya.com was named overall champion in the Media Advanced Class, with Kevin Francisco of The Modern Creatures in 2nd place and Daily Tribune’s Ronald Delos Reyes rounding out the podium.
For the Media Beginner Class, YugaTech’s Pablo Salapantan trounced the rest to come out 1st overall. Joining him were C! Magazine’s Wowie Go in 2nd and Top Gear Philippines’ Riz Javier finishing 3rd place.
And finally, renowned sim racers went head-to-head in the GR GT Class, with Russel Reyes taking the top spot on the podium. Taking 2nd overall was Jether Miole, while 3rd place went to Mark Elman.
