KIA Soluto

The Kia Soluto is an attractively styled subcompact sedan which offers ample passenger space and comfort on the inside. Up front, the Soluto proudly carries the brand’s tiger-nose grille with sweptback headlamps. The front bumper also features front air curtain intakes on either side and a pair of projection fog lamps. Additional features include power side mirrors with LED repeaters and chrome door handles that add more character to the sedan. The Kia Soluto is available in these colors: Clear White, Titanium Silver, Aurora Black Pearl, Blue Stream, and Marcato Red.

The cabin of the Kia Soluto provides ample seating for five with comfortable seats. Fabric seats can be found on the entry level variants while the top spec variant gets a two tone leatherette upholstery on the seats and door panels. The fit and finish of the mostly plastic panels on the dash and door panels are well executed. The manual air con controls on the Soluto feature a 360 degree rotating vents to circulate cool air more efficiently. Despite its compact size, the Soluto has a relatively large trunk space that measures around 475 liters.

Technology

The Kia Soluto comes with a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Bluetooth, AUX, and USB inputs, plus Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. A six speaker audio system comes as standard equipment on all variants. The steering wheel of the Soluto features an integrated audio controls for utmost driver convenience. The instrument gauge panel also houses a 2.8-inch LCD cluster which includes a digital trip computer and fuel consumption.

Safety

The Kia Soluto comes with a range of standard safety features that most of its competitors also possess. Up front are two airbags to take care of the front passengers, and there are three-point seatbelts all around; even for the center passenger in the rear. ABS and ISOFIX child seat tethers are also come as standard.

The Kia Soluto comes powered by a 1.4-liter, inline-4, Kappa-Dual CVVT gasoline engine that is capable of generating 94 horsepower and 132 Nm of torque. Transmission choices consist of a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic depending on the variant.

Platform and Chassis

The Kia Soluto utilizes Kia’s robust PB platform that it shares with the Hyundai Reina. Not surprising as Hyundai and Kia have been sharing small automobile platforms for their respective vehicles since 1997. Suspension-wise, the Soluto features MacPherson struts with H-type sub-frame up front, while the rear employs a V-beam coupled torsion beam axle. As for braking power, it consists of front disc brakes with drum brakes at the back and Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS). The entry level Soluto gets 14-inch steel wheels with styled caps while the top spec variant comes with 14-inch alloy wheels.
