    The Mitsubishi Strada is a mid-size, body on frame pickup, which marks Mitsubishi Motor Philippines’ (MMPC) entry in the mid-size pickup truck segment. Currently on its third generation, it’s one of the more popular pickup choices. Having already established its quality and capability through different model changes. The current generation Mitsubishi Strada generates power through a 2.4-liter, inline-4 turbo diesel engine that's capable of making up to 179 horsepower and 430 Nm of torque. Transmission choices are between a five-speed manual gearbox or a six-speed automatic. The Mitsubishi Strada's price range starts at ₱1,293,000 for the entry level Strada GLS 2.4 4x2 MT and ₱1,818,000 for the Strada Athlete 2.4 4x4 AT as the top-spec variant. Mitsubishi Motors Philippines recently launched the Mitsubishi Strada GLS Ralliart Edition with Ralliart exterior enhancements that’s priced at ₱1,429,000.

    History

    The Mitsubishi Triton (also known as the L200 Strada or Strada Triton) is a pickup truck manufactured by Mitsubishi Motors. The first generation of Mitsubishi pickup trucks started with the Mitsubishi Forte in 1978 until the end of 1986. In Japan, the Forte was initially sold with the 4G32 1.6L engine producing 92 PS (68 kW). The second generation Triton was introduced in 1987. In Japan this car was only resold in 1991. 

    This car continued to be produced until 1996. In 1996, the third generation Triton model was launched with a 2.5L engine producing 103 hp. This Triton model is the first to enter the Indonesian market under the name L200 Strada. This fourth generation Triton just appeared in 2008 with the name Strada Triton. Designed by Akinori Nakanishi and for the 5th generation, In 2014, Mitsubishi launched the new Triton which went on sale mid 2015 (Asia Pacific) and late 2015 (Europe). The Mitsubishi Strada was launched on January 26, 2019, with a new face. The pickup now features Mitsubishi’s Dynamic Shield design language. It also now comes with a new 2.4-liter turbo diesel engine.

    Launch

    Prominently incorporating Mitsubishi’s Shield Design Language, the Mitsubishi Strada was launched on January 26, 2019. The Strada generates power through a new 2.4-liter turbo diesel engine. The redesign of the new body also came with a new pair of projector headlights and foglamps. It features the main projector LED headlights positioned up top with the signal lights placed at the bottom.

    Another variant was also added to the Strada line-up on March of 2020, This is the Mitsubishi Strada Athlete which is a  dressed-up pickup with limited paint options that’s available in 4x4 and 4x2 capability. During the 2022 Philippine International Motorshow, Mitsubishi launched the Strada GLS Ralliart variant. Aside from being equipped with genuine Ralliart exterior enhancements, it also comes with limited edition paint colors.

    The Mitsubishi Strada sports a new exterior, adopting Mitsubishi’s Dynamic Shield Design. A design trait that’s also similar to the ones used on the current generation Montero Sport and Xpander.

    This Mitsubishi Strada Triton has a length of about 5,365 mm, with adjustments to the width and height. The variant with the largest body size is the New Triton Exceed M/T and also A/T which has a body size of 5,365 x 1,850 x 1,821 mm.     Lighting

    The new front fascia features a new grille design with LED projector headlamps that are much sleeker and come with daytime running lights (DRL).

    The lights found on either side of the lower bumper opening house the signal lights and fog lights.

    The C-shaped chrome accents on the Mitsubishi Strada’s front bumper are now slimmer and more subtle in appearance. Using Mitsubishi’s J-Line exterior design, the Strada is more maneuverable and allows for a wider and spacious cabin.

    On the dashboard panel, Mitsubishi embeds several new touches in the form of Piano Black Panel Design on the Exceed and GLS types, then there is also a transmission sport mode with 4WD Dial Mode on the Exceed AT type. There’s a 2DIN touchscreen infotainment system that’s navigation ready and supports Bluetooth and iPod capabilities.

    The steering wheel has audio controls and comes with a tilt and telescopic adjustment. To keep the cabin comfortably cool, it has a dual-zone automatic climate control system.

    Space and Practicality

    Size-wise, the Mitsubishi Strada has a double cabin configuration with enough head and legroom for five. The interior is also quite comfortable. The comfortable seats come in leather for the top spec variants and fabric for the lower spec variants.

    Not only that, the interior also has storage space in several sections to store luggage. But considering the model is a pick-up car, the Mitsubishi Triton has a less spacious interior.

Meanwhile, the power that this Mitsubishi Triton can produce is 110 PS at 4,000 rpm for the HDX single and double cabin types.

So it can be concluded that each type has a different performance value, but the specifications of the Mitsubishi Triton in general have a fairly tough engine.

    The Mitsubishi Strada has a four-door, dual cab body and utilizes a reinforced ladder on frame chassis using Mitsubishi’s K- Platform. Suspension-wise, the Strada has an independent double wishbone with coil spring and stabilizer bar front suspension. A pair of rigid elliptic leaf springs with shock absorbers make up the rear suspension. The brakes consist of ventilated front discs with leading and trailing rear drums. Depending on the variant, the Strada comes with 18-inch alloy wheels with 265/60R18 tires.
