SCOOP: Nissan Philippines to launch 400Z on March 2023, followed by Terra Sport 01

Nissan Philippines is cooking up something really special next month.

AutoFun Philippines has received new information confirming the upcoming launch of the Nissan 400Z on March 2023, along with a new Nissan Terra variant called the Terra Sport.

On January 2023, the Japanese brand announced at its media thanksgiving party that a performance vehicle was on its way. The information made many believe that the 400Z was coming to the Philippines.

To add to this, the head of one of the brand’s larger dealership groups also posted a picture with the 400Z, indicating that it could be coming to the country soon.

AutoFun Philippines spoke to two sources who are highly familiar with the upcoming models. They agreed to be interviewed by AutoFun Philippines under the condition of strict anonymity for lack of authority to speak on the matter.

The Nissan 400Z will be the brand’s entry into the sports car segment in the Philippines and will replace the Nissan 370Z and its Nismo variant.

It is the seventh generation of the nameplate, also known as the Nissan Fairlady Z in Japan.

The 400Z is powered by a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter, twin-cam, 24-valve V6 gasoline engine, reminiscent of its 1990s predecessor, the Nissan 300ZX.

It produces 405 PS and 475 Nm of torque, which are sent to the rear wheels via either a 9-speed automatic or a 6-speed manual transmission.

The Japanese sports car also brings features like a 9-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and a 12-inch instrument cluster display.

Our sources could not tell us the pricing for the latest iteration of Nissan's famous sports car.

However, we assume it will be in the ₱4-to-5 million range, putting it in the firing line of the recently launched Honda Civic Type R and the Toyota GR Supra.

Nissan Terra Sport

According to our sources, the Terra Sport will be a special-edition vehicle similar to the Mitsubishi Montero Sport Black Edition and Ralliart models.

The new Terra variant will likely come with a sportier body kit and other accessories to differentiate it from the rest of the lineup.

However, it will still carry the same 2.5-liter, twin-cam, 16-valve inline-4 turbodiesel engine and 7-speed automatic transmission. Its drivetrain layout has yet to be determined, but we suspect it will be a 4x2 model.

The Terra Sport's official launch date was kept a secret. But we assume it will be around, if not close to, the same time as the launch of the Nissan 400Z.
