As reported earlier, Nissan officially debuted the real-world version of its Max-Out electric roadster concept on Feb. 2, 2023.

The drop-top two-seater combines the classic sports car silhouette with design cues from the 1980s and the 24th century.

The wedge-like profile starts with a blunt nose up front, leading up to an enormous windshield that cuts in the hood. The funky wheels, which have a nice fender gap, appear to be screens.

Out back, you get a relatively short rear end combined with a skirt that complements the ones on the side. The “NISSAN” brand name seems to be on a screen that makes up the taillight cluster.

The Max-Out’s cabin is no less wild, dominated by what seem to be retro-modern deck chairs that look cool but offer next to no support in hard driving. 

A huge screen that spans nearly the whole dashboard and a rectangular steering wheel complete the fairly barebones concept.

Three future EVs

The Max-Out is one of three concept EVs that Nissan unveiled virtually on November 2021.

The other two are the Hang-Out crossover and the Surf-Out pick-up truck, which are part of the company’s Ambition 2030 campaign.

Ambition 2030 involves investing 2 trillion yen (around ₱839 billion, as of press time) over the next five years to launch 23 new electrified models, with 15 being battery EVs. 

Nissan also said it wants half of the luxury Infiniti lineup sold worldwide to be electrified by 2030.

Meanwhile, the carmaker also targets a lineup of 75 percent electrified vehicles in Europe and 40 percent in the U.S. and China.

A month-long glimpse into the future

The Max-Out will also be exhibited in the Nissan Futures event, held online and offline from Feb. 4 to Mar. 1, 2023.

In a February 2023 press statement, Nissan said that the showcase will include “interactive customer events, panel discussions with experts, and various displays, all aimed to exhibit its innovations in electrification, vehicle intelligence, power management, vehicle battery reuse, and more.”

The company added that the event display and content information are available on the Nissan global corporate website and will be showcased on its official YouTube and LinkedIn channels. 

Entry to the Nissan Global Headquarters Gallery and participation in the planned events (physically or virtually) will be free of charge.
