Overview

Ford certainly wasn't kidding when it launched this Ford Raptor. Raptor's big name actually refers to his older brother, the Ford F-150, a full size pickup truck that has a length of almost 6 meters and a V6 engine. Ford Motor Corporation wants all media crews to believe in the greatness of this car. And it was proven, after passing a series of tests with heavy and even extreme obstacles, and believed in the greatness of this Ford Raptor. This proves that although it is based on the Ford Ranger, the Ford Raptor is not just an ordinary Ranger.

History

The Ford Ranger is a pickup truck type vehicle made by the Ford Motor Company. Initially, this name was used on the Edsel Ranger, then reused in 1982. Since 1998 Ford has also sold other versions of the Ranger which are sold internationally. The Ford Raptor is a nameplate used by Ford Motor Company for its "high-performance" pickup trucks and SUVs. In use since the 2010 model year, the Raptor is designated as the highest-performance version of the F-150, Ranger and Bronco. Drawing its name from both birds of prey and the velociraptor, the model line is intended as a street-legal counterpart of an off-road racing trophy truck and on September 21, 2018, Ford Philippines brought in the Ranger Raptor together with the refreshed Ford Ranger. This also introduced Ford's Biturbo 2.0-liter EcoBlue diesel engine with a 10-speed automatic transmission

In Philippines, The Ranger Raptor is priced between ₱1.998 Million and ₱2.038 Million.

Exterior

Ranger Raptor has a more frightening appearance than other Ranger variants. Block grille design with dark Ford badge and large bumper bash plate. In addition, the Ranger Raptor has a larger fender size than other variants and there is a Raptor striping on the back door. While the legs are armed with Fox Racing Shox suspension and 17-inch alloy wheels with a sporty design.

Ford wants to get rid of the impression that this model is not just an upgrade from the Ford Ranger with the body code T6. The focus of this car is clearly the Ford F-150, it can be seen from the large grille with the words FORD massive (large) making the masculine aura stick out even more. The combination of the Raptor muscular body kit with larger fenders, plus a satin silver skid plate also creates a dashing aura.

for the exterior side of this car, the fenders are 150 mm wider than the 'standard' Ranger T6 to accommodate the wider rims and tires than the standard Ranger. However, that's not all, the wide fender space is also so that the FOX suspension which has a travel that is longer than the standard pretentious can reside inside. This 33-inch BF Goodrich All Terrain tire was developed specifically for the Ford Raptor and is claimed to be able to pass through any terrain without any problems at all.

for the rear view of  Ford Raptor, it is not as great as the front and side exterior appearances. The tires are then combined with BAJA (read: Baha) driving mode, BAJA Mode is the most responsive mode you can experience in this car. The name BAJA is inspired by the BAJA 1000 Desert Race. This Steel Mode will be more pronounced when used in sandy areas, the Raptor will offer stability and confidence at high speeds as well as increased responsiveness.

The interior design of the latest Ford Ranger Raptor is even more ergonomic and user-friendly than its predecessor, with plenty of new technology thrown in for good measure. As with the Performance variant from Ford, the characteristic blue stitching is the main accent on this Ford Raptor seat. Five adults can sit comfortably and safely in the cabin of this car. That's because the five seats have got an adjustable headrest that can be adjusted in height, ISOFIX mounts plus ELR safety belts on all seats. on the driver and front passenger seats also carry the Body-Contured Seats design so that the driving position will be more comfortable when the car is maneuvering. To add to the impression of luxury, all the seats of the Ford Ranger Raptor are wrapped in Alcantara leather.

Space and Practicality

The Raptor's cabin enjoys the same design layout and passenger space as the regular F-150 SuperCrew. The high-performance version comes standard with a 12.0-inch digital gauge cluster and offers more interior storage space as well as what Ford says are better materials. The new steering wheel wears a laser engraved logo and now has a racing car-style orange marking at the 12 o'clock position; the protruding aluminum paddle shifter still hides behind the bars. Along with standard aluminum interior trim, the Raptor is available with optional carbon fiber interior accents and a more aggressive Recaro front bucket. High-flying pickups will no longer be offered in the extended cab body style (aka SuperCab).

In the performance sector, the Ford Ranger Raptor is equipped with an EcoBlue 4-cylinder 2.0-liter bi-turbo engine capable of producing a maximum power of 213 hp and a peak torque of 500Nm. Furthermore, the power and torque is channeled to all the wheels through a 10-speed automatic transmission. Because it is designed as an all-terrain vehicle, the Ford Ranger Raptor is reinforced with a four-wheel-drive system with e-Locking Rear Differential support.

Transmission

The 10-speed automatic transmission system successfully collaborates nicely with Fox Racing Shox Dampers suspension and BF Goodrich All-Terrain tires, maximizing its performance to explore mountains and hills with ease.
