Mitsubishi is slowly hyping up the upcoming 2024 Mitsubishi Triton by releasing teaser images of the pickup truck before its official global debut on July 26.

While the teaser images don’t reveal too much about the upcoming pickup truck, they do showcase a bit of the front of the vehicle, indicating that it has retained some of the aggressive styling found on the XRT concept that it is based on. 

The Japanese automaker has also released a quick teaser video for its upcoming pickup truck tackling how its design came to be.

A new dynamic shield look

The 2024 Mitsubishi Triton now carries the brand’s newest Dynamic shield design language. That means the pickup has a unique wide grille with a bolder layered design. Aside from this, the images reveal that the vehicle also has a new set of high-mounted foglights along with the typical Mitsubishi split-type LED headlight design. 

Like the Mitsubishi Xpander, the upcoming Triton has its daytime running lights at the top closer to the hood, while its main headlights are just below them in a T-shaped design.

The teaser images also reveal a much larger set of LED taillights at the back of the vehicle, which looks like they carry the same T-shaped design language found on the headlights. The photos don’t reveal much about the car besides its side silhouette, which seems sleeker than the previous model, especially with its sports bar at the back. 

Engine specifications are still a mystery, but an updated 4N15 turbo diesel motor could be its primary powerplant for the Philippine market. The new engine could bring more horsepower and torque to the pickup truck, making it more competitive in its segment.

Aside from this, there are talks of a battery-electric version of the pickup truck set to come soon, but its launch date is yet to be determined. 

The new underpinnings for the Navara, Terra, and Montero Sport

It is important to remember that Mitsubishi is sharing the platform of the 2024 Mitsubishi Triton with its alliance-mate Nissan. The Triton will be the basis for the future Nissan Navara and, subsequently, the Nissan Terra and Mitsubishi Montero Sport. 

Once the Triton launches, we can expect to see the same, if not similar, chassis and suspension setup as its upcoming stablemate and Nissan counterparts.
