I remember back in the old days when we did not worry too much about fuel prices. Road trips were fun, relaxing, and hassle-free. Much unlike these days when we now have to deal with high pump prices because of the global oil crisis. Although it doesn't mean that we never experienced difficulties before in maintaining our fuel tanks at a high level, we were just not as worried and affected as we are now. That is why we need to consider alternative vehicles that will save us money in the long run while giving us the satisfaction we desire.

2022 Ford Everest

If we are going to take into consideration the all-new 2022 Ford Everest for the family, it should give us the satisfaction we are looking for in an SUV in terms of features, road capability, affordability, and safety. But nowadays, fuel consumption should also become an important consideration. 

What we know

As we wait for a drive of the next-generation Ford Everest, we should take note that there are two engine options available - the 2.0-liter Turbo and 2.0-liter Bi-turbo. Both have proven to be performers in their classes. The Bi-Turbo engine is even paired to a 10-speed automatic transmission to maximize its performance and fuel efficiency.

The outgoing 4x2 Everest can go for around 9.5 kilometers per liter inside the city while 15 to 17 kilometers per liter on the highway, depending on how you drive and under what road conditions. Given the new model is a tad heavier than the previous generation, you can expect a slight dip in fuel economy numbers. Or at least, they'll stay the same with improved engine efficiency. 

Our best guess

That fuel consumption rate was from a 2021 4x2 Everest, which is not yet the top-spec or the 4x4 variant. It should be safe to say that we might have to expect a higher fuel consumption rate in the new generation of Ford Everest.
