5 Reasons why the 2023 Mitsubishi Xpander Cross could be a better choice over a Nissan Livina

5 Reasons why the 2023 Mitsubishi Xpander Cross could be a better choice over a Nissan Livina 01

As the new and improved 2023 Mitsubishi Xpander Cross launch is fast approaching, it would be fun to compare it with one of its closest rivals in its segment. This is none other than the Nissan Livina, which has similar features and capabilities, not to mention the same platform and bits.

From the looks of it, if the local spec Mitsubishi Xpander Cross comes with all the features like the one showcased during the Indonesia International Motor Show, then here are five good reasons why it could be a better choice over the Nissan Livina.

A fresher, more rugged look

The Nissan Livina stays loyal to its MPV design roots.

The updated Xpander Cross looks more dynamic and sporty than the Livina’s V-Motion design language style. Most notably, the Xpander Cross now incorporates Mitsubishi’s Dynamic Shield Design language that’s evident upfront, including a redesigned front bumper. In addition, the redesigned T-shaped headlamps and taillamps also come with LED lighting. It also has roof rails which should allow you to load more gear that otherwise would not fit inside the cabin.

More interior comfort

Much like its Xpander MPV namesake, the 2023 Mitsubishi Xpander Cross will likely sport an electronic parking brake along with its associated features.

Despite its leather seats, the Nissan Livina still sports a traditional handbrake lever.

The updates of the Xpander Cross also extend to the interior, where an updated dashboard spruces up the interior with the overall fit and finish using only high-quality and soft-to-the-touch materials. There’s digital air conditioning, an 8-inch infotainment system (the Nissan Livina has a 7-inch screen), an electric parking brake (the Nissan Livina has a manual lever handbrake), rear USB ports, and more. Storage-wise, the Xpander Cross offers lots of space to stow away items and luggage.

Safety features

Aside from the standard dual SRS airbags and 3-point seatbelts, additional safety features have been infused with the updated Xpander Cross. These include its RISE body structure, ISO-FIX child seating, and more. The Xpander also gets  ASC, ABS + EBD, and Brake Assist (BA) to promote safer driving.

Improved suspension system

It’s important to note that both the Nissan Livina and the Mitsubishi Xpander Cross employ a MacPherson strut, coil spring front suspension, and a torsion beam set up at the rear. The are, after all, identical mechanical twins.

However, the updated 2023 Mitsubishi Xpander Cross comes with improved suspension components and a taller ride height of 225 mm. What’s more, the damping characteristics of the shock absorber have been tweaked to offer overall comfort and on-road stability for better handling.

After-sales service

Another reason why the Mitsubishi Xpander Cross has the upper hand over the Nissan Livina is that Mitsubishi has a more extensive dealer network located all over the country. Having many Mitsubishi dealer workshops gives more consumers peace of mind when it comes to servicing their rides wherever they are in the country.

How about you? Which one will you be inclined to take home, the Nissan Livina or the Mitsubishi Xpander Cross?
