How much is the maintenance cost of Ford Mustang in the Philippines

Ford Philippines released its Philippine spec version for the sixth generation of Mustang in 2018 and offered the iconic sports car in convertible top and Fastback. It is available in two engines and four models. Consumers can choose from the variants of EcoBoost, EcoBoost Premium, GT, and GT Premium.

The first engine option is the 2.3L four-cylinder EcoBoost engine that pumps out 310 horsepower and 475 Newton-meter of torque. The second option is the 5.0L Coyote V8, that makes 460 horsepower and 420 Newton-meter of torque. Both engines produce enough torque to produce tire smoke. The facelifted model is also equipped with a 10-speed automatic transmission that handles power very well. 

Mustang’s high-horsepower engines naturally lead to high consumption of gasoline, which is one main constituent of the car’s maintenance cost. Apart from gas, the maintenance cost is most likely related to the engine, the AC, brake pad replacement, and tire rotation and replacement etc.

The engine is definitely a critical part of your maintenance schedule. Maintaining the engine usually comes down to changing the oil and oil filter. First, without any lubrication, the gears, pistons and cylinders operating your engine can heat up, meld together and seize up. But the oil can get dirty and harm your vehicle. That’s when the oil filter comes into play. However, the filter has its functioning limit. That’s why you need to change the oil and even the filter.

The Mustang uses dual-zone automatic AC that maintains different preferred temperatures autonomously through two separate sections of the vehicle. The AC is likely to need repair because of its complex makeup and its frequent use.

Brake pad and tire maintenance also has a direct relationship with its use (wear), which is often measured by mileage. Generally speaking, city drivers will need to have their brake pads replaced sooner than those driving in rural areas or who drive primarily on freeways. Tire rotation, on the other hand, should be done every 5,000 to 8,000 miles. When the tire is worn or flat, change it. You don’t have to change all four in one time.

In 2018, Ford Philippines released its schedule of average 17% down periodic maintenance cost for its big three car models: the Ranger, Everest, and EcoSport. Mustang was not one of them. So with all the possible items combined, a Mustang can cost its owner about P120,000 for five-year maintenance.
