The Philippines is bracing itself for the arrival of the all-new fourth-generation Geely Emgrand. The B-segment sedan is built on Geely’s BMA platform and will compete with rivals like the Honda City and Toyota Vios.
Other than Geely Philippines' teaser on its social media page, spy photos of the camouflaged car parked at a Geely dealership also surfaced on the internet.
Launched in China back in August 2021, the Emgrand rides on the same BMA platform as the Geely Coolray/ Binyue or better known in Malaysia as the Proton X50. Although the Emgrand is technically a B-segment car, its size measures closer to a Honda Civic and Toyota Corolla.
Power will come from a 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine that produces 114 PS and 147 Nm. Power is routed through a CVT.
Based on the spied photos, the Emgrand that will go on sale in the Philippines will most likely be the range-topping variant in China priced at CNY 88,900 (~RM 58,400).
The spy shots also revealed that the Emgrand will come with a 6-way power-adjustable driver seat, a sunroof and an interior finished in blue and white very similar to the Geely Preface/ Xingrui.
Geely still hasn’t indicated how much the Emgrand would be sold for in the Philippines yet. It would be interesting to see how much the Emgrand will be priced compared to the City and Vios since it also comes with a fully digital instrument cluster and a 10.2-inch infotainment system.
