The Honda BeAT is the manufacturing giant's entry model to its scooter segment. It comes in three variants: Street, Fashion Sport, and Premium. The Honda BeAT has gone through a few model upgrades since its introduction and this latest version is not only stylish than ever, it also retained its no-nonsense approach to personal mobility.

    Variant and Price

Intended to cater to a younger demographic and novice riders, the Honda BeAT's simplicity and user-friendliness are just a couple of its selling points. Of course, any entry-level motorcycle should also be budget-friendly. The 2022 Honda BeAT price in the Philippines starts at ₱69,900. Honda offers the BeAT at the following price points that are easy on the pocket:

    Variant
     Price
    Honda BeAT Premium (ISS/CBS) ₱72,900
Honda BeAT Fashion Sport (STD) ₱69,900
    Honda BeAT Street (STD) ₱69,900

  • Design

Featuring a sharp taillight and attractive headlight, the Honda BeAT truly shows its eye-catching aggresive look. The sharply designed body panels do make the Honda Beat look edgy, and its youthful appeal increases more with the fresh-looking body decals seen in all the variants.

The side portions of the front apron extending towards the floorboard at the bottom have been designed in a zig-zag manner, thus making the scooter even sharper when you view this scooter from the sides. For the size of the scooter, the floorboard is quite roomy with a good amount of knee room for even taller riders.

The frontal side itself generates a very strong first impression of a sharp-looking scooter, with the main headlamp unit mounted on the lower central part of the front apron. The elevated position of the front fender denotes readiness for various road condition and it also gives the illusion of a taller stance. The black cast wheels visually integrate well with the 14-inch tires.

    Dimension

The dimensions of the Honda BeAT are 1,856mm Length x 667mm Width x 1,068mm Height.

  • Powertrain

The Honda BeAT sources its power from a supremely tried and tested and hugely reliable four-stroke, single-cylinder, air-cooled, 110cc engine, which in past has powered many scooters and has been the mainstay for Honda BeAt ever since its inception. The said engine is mated to a conventional V-belt transmission and is capable of pumping out 8.8 PS of maximum power and 9.2 Nm of peak torque output. It features Honda's Enhanced Smart Power (eSP) technology which maximizes fuel combustion to provide peak performance while maximizing efficiency as well. The BeAT sports an ACG starter system for a smooth and noise-free engine starting.

  • Ride & Handling

The sharpness of the Honda Beat is not only reflected by its stylish look but also in its practical riding and handling experience. The scooter rides on 14-inch wheels and gets a slightly stiffer suspension setup of hydraulic telescopic forks at the front and single sided coil spring at the rear. This overall setup, along with the slim profile of the Honda Beat, gives it a sense of athleticism when it comes to handling.
The sleek and compact dimensions of the Honda BeAT make it an ideal traffic buster when traveling along congested city streets. AT only 93 kilograms, flicking it around the urban jungle won't be a problem to most riders.

  • Engine & Fuel Consumption

With Honda's Enhanced Smart Power (eSP) together with the Eco Indicator, the BeAT is able to reach 63.7 kilometers per liter based on Honda's test. This fuel efficiency can be further improved by activating the Idling Stop System (ISS) fitted on the Premium variant. This feature automatically shut-off the engine whenever the scooter is at idle for more than 3 seconds, thereby avoiding unnecessary burning of fuel.

  • Braking & Safety

For an entry-level scooter, the Honda Beat is decently equipped with a key shutter mechanism for the ignition keyhole to help prevent theft. The front disc brake and rear drum brake set up is more than enough to stop this light scooter on a dime. The range-topping Premium variant also gets an integrated braking system as well, which applies both the brakes when the rider applies only the rear brake lever. There is also a parking brake lock you that you can lock the wheels when parked on an inclined surface.

All Honda BeAT variants are also equipped with a side-stand switch, where the engine automatically shuts-off whenever the side stand is engaged. This helps prevent accidents due to rider error.

  • Summary

For the price it asks, the Honda Beat comes across as a value for money product, offering subtle mechanicals and a decent amount of features. The tried and tested engine and chassis of the Honda BeAT make up for a great combination which makes this scooter a very robust product.

The Honda BeAT is an ideal entry-level scooter as it offers ease of usage and a hassle-free service life to beginner riders. It requires minimal maintenance and consumes less fuel too. The BeAT not only is an excellent traffic buster, it is also a great option to those in need of personal transportation but are having budget constraints.
