The veteran instructors of JMS Motocross School were on hand for the first-ever Honda CRF Clinic and Track Day.

In line with its initiative to further promote off-road riding, Honda Philippines, Inc. (HPI) and JMS Motocross School recently organized the first Honda CRF Clinic and Track Day.

The event was facilitated by motocross legend Jovie Saulog, who is also the head coach of the JMS Motocross School.

Honda joined forces with JMS to give Filipino riders the chance to learn the necessary skills from one of the best motocross schools in the country.

Exciting partnership

The seminar was followed by an Off-Road Training Lecture and an actual demonstration to ensure that the attendees were better prepared on how to handle the motorcycles.

The Honda off-road competition bikes that were showcased during the event included the CRF125F, CRF150R, CRF250R, CRF250RX and CRF450R.

Saulog said JMS is privileged to be HPI's partner and to have CRF bikes for use in the school.

"This partnership is important to our organization because we believe that this gives us the opportunity to further promote and professionalize the sport of motocross,” he said.

“Moreover, motocross is fast becoming a popular sport, and getting more people interested in this can get more people to engage in it,” Saulog added.

The CRF125F, costing ₱189,000, features a 125cc air-cooled, 2-valve, 4-stroke, single-cylinder engine.

It comes with 260 mm of ground clearance and a 785-mm seat height, making the bike ideal for beginner riders and youngsters.

The CRF150R, priced at ₱306,000, is powered by a 150cc liquid-cooled, 4-valve, 4-stroke, single-cam single-cylinder engine. With its 336-mm ground clearance and 866-mm seat height, this bike is more suitable for intermediate riders.

Honda also showcased the CRF250R and the CRF250RX, which the company said are both "engineered for Filipino riders who are looking for a bike that allows outdoor exploration with ease."

Priced at ₱459,000 and ₱469,000, respectively, these bikes are equipped with a 250cc liquid-cooled, 4-stroke, twin-cam, single-cylinder engine.

The CRF250R features 333 mm of ground clearance, a 961-mm seat height and a 104-kg curb weight. Its rear tires are 100/90-19 Pirelli MX32 Midsoft.

Meanwhile, the CRF250RX boasts 335 mm of ground clearance, a 964-mm seat height and a curb weight of 108 kg. The rear tires are 110/100-18 64M.

Finally, Honda offers the CRF450R for riders who want to seriously get into motocross racing.

This race-winning bike is powered by a 450cc liquid-cooled, 4-stroke, single-cam, single-cylinder engine mated to a 5-speed manual.

When combined with its 49-mm upside-down front and pro-link rear suspension – both by Showa – as well as its 21-inch front and 18-inch rear wheels, you get a motorcycle that’s both powerful and easy to handle.

At ₱500,000, this bike is also equipped with HRC Launch Control and Engine Mode Select buttons that HPI said give you "a definite performance edge over the rest of the competition."

Does the prospect of riding in the dirt excite you or would you rather stay on the smooth tarmac?
