2022 Toyota Rush Short Review: Things to Look Out for Before Buying New Rush

Just like the super-villainous and shape-shifting "Mystique", of the X-Men movie- fame series who can mimic the appearance and voice of any person at will,

the Toyota Rush, in a classic sense does too, although only in terms of aliases, as the said car goes by any other name too.

The fact is, in Japan, this car goes by the name of Daihatsu Terios during its flagship run there way back in 1997, then a couple of years flash by before it adopted the name Teruna, then onwards to Bego, then moving on to Toyota Cami, then finally moving forward with the name Toyota Rush, which is the car's present moniker. (Whew! Blow me down Georgy boy, hah-hah)

This flashy-looking mini SUV, Toyota Rush, by the way, was manufactured by Daihatsu Motor Co. Ltd., whose parent company was none other than the legendary Toyota Motor Corporation based in Japan.

There you go, a bit of history there before we begin dissecting the admirable attributes of this 5-door wonder with the front-engine, rear-wheel-drive layout wherein the first generation Terios was available as a 5-door wagon, hold it, wait a minute, we thought were through discussing the history of the Terios but here we go yet again just like an old broken record spinning the same old yarn. (hah-hah)

But seriously folks, we're here to fill in the blanks, so to speak, and to give our dear readers a "heads-up" to put Toyota Rush in a kind of 15-minute "spotlight" by highlighting some of its noteworthy features through a series of FAQ format.

So without further ado, we'd hit the initial sweet spots by posing the first set of questions.

How Road-Ready is Toyota Rush?

As witnessed by veteran auto-journalists from Auto Industriya.com, the Toyota Rush is somewhat like a disguised MPV road warrior that maneuvers like an extraordinarily larger SUV car, sort of.

The Toyota Rush was meticulously engineered as a rear-wheel-drive vehicle with a reinforced ladder-style truck chassis configuration for better road-handling capabilities. It also comes with a slew of safety features, fluid and dynamic styling, and plenty of cargo space suitable enough for those families who are always on the go. Need we say more? (hah-hah)

What Kind of Engine is in the Toyota Rush?

Based on our research team's findings, the top-spec 2022 Rush GR Sport is powered by the familiar mill found under the hood of Sport's er, cousin, Toyota Avanza, as both cars roar with the same 1.5-liter 2NR-VE Dual VVT-i gasoline engine that delivers a punchy 102 PS at 6000 rpm with 134 Newton-meter of torque at 4200 rpm, however, the only slight difference is, the Rush GR Sport's mill is exclusively chained to a 4-speed automatic gear stick while the other variants are mated to a 5-speed gearbox.

What is the Toyota Rush's Drawback?

According to PhilKotse.com, car owners may encounter issues with the Toyota Rush's transmission systems, particularly its torque converter seal, which will become damaged when the car is put through high mileage while Zig Wheels. my car, lists the common problems with the Toyota Rush as having an inefficient engine, cramped third row, and lack of Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity.

Is Toyota Rush Fuel- Efficient?

According to Toyota, the Rush gulps an average of 5.8 liters of fuel per 100 kilometers on the highway and 8.2 liters per 100 kilometers in the city.

Unfortunately, though, those figures given by Toyota were inaccurate as recent testing proves that the low figures given by the former were higher according to Phil Wheels.com while testing done by road officials from Auto Deal.com put the figures at a respectable 6.9 km/l in city traffic and 14.1 km/l on the interstate.

What is the Toyota Rush's Fuel Tank Capacity?

According to Toyota-Myanmar.com, Toyota Rush's fuel tank capacity is 45 L while the leading Indian auto portal, Car Dekho.com, puts the figure around at 55.0 L. (Whose telling the truth here Georgy boy? hah-hah)

How Much is the Toyota Rush 2022?

According to CCar Price.com, the price range for the Toyota Rush 2020 in the US is somewhere between $25,920 to $32,920.

However, in the Philippines, the 2022-Rush's price tag ranges from 1.012 Million for the base 1.5 E MT variant with DP as low as P124,000 and MA P23,691 (60) (as of June 27, 2022) to P1.176 Million for the top-spec variant GR-S, according to ZigWheels.com.

What is the Toyota Rush's Lowest Monthly Installment?

To those kind folks out there who are planning on buying a brand-new Toyota Rush in PHL may be enamored to know of the said car's rock-bottom DP (Down Payment); a cool P88 K (P88,000.00), for those privileged few who are stuffed with enough paper money to spare, hah-hah. (we wish we could do that)

That figure, by the way, was posted from an updated January 2022 Toyota Vehicles Promos bulletin, according to an auto market portal, Auto Promos. ph.

CONCLUSION

This article had barely scratched the surface of providing the readers, with an "in-depth" look at Toyota Rush's cumulatively-spectacular features.

But the "meaty" part to all of this talk centers around a "rumor" heard through the grapevine about a highly redesigned "2024 Toyota Rush" coming out that is built with a unique aesthetic, that, according to industry spy-shot masters, had initially debuted at this year's Tokyo Motor Show, according to Toyota Designs.com.

But this bit of news is nothing but just an icing on the cake compared to a much more relishing "rumor", as the year 2024, would usher in with a highly-revamped and mind-boggling "Toyota Corolla" with a provocatively-techie spec,

oh, but nothing much really, just ironically simple hardware that would allow this car to run, steer, brake, and accelerate to oblivion all by itself, short of- "intelligently autonomous" (according to the same website) Whaa..whaat? we want that car Georgy boy, give us thaat one!
