After much anticipation, Triumph finally launched two new offerings in the entry-level big bike segment, the Speed 400 and the Scrambler 400 X. These are the brand's first models under its partnership with Indian bikemaker Bajaj.

The Speed 400 is a neo-classic roadster while the Scrambler 400 X is, er...a scrambler, of course! Both took styling cues from their bigger siblings, the Speed Twin 900/1200 and Scrambler 900/1200.

The two new little Triumphs share a 398.15cc, liquid-cooled, 4V DOHC, single-cylinder engine, which produces 29.4 kW and 37.5 Nm. The Speed 400 and the Scrambler 400 X were developed in partnership with Bajaj Auto of India to lower production costs, similar to what KTM did to its 200 and 390 platforms.

We’re expecting these two new models to be big hits in the local market because...400cc!

Triumph is yet to announce the pricing for the Speed 400 and the Scrambler 400 X, but they are likely to be the most affordable tollway-legal bikes from the British maker.

The Speed 400 runs on 17-inch alloys, bringing down the seat height to a Pinoy-friendly 790mm. Tipping the scales at only 170 kilograms, it would be a joy to ride this roadster in the urban jungle. The Scrambler 400 X, on the other hand, has a 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheel set up, and you get cast alloys instead of wire spokes. It features a commanding seat height of 835mm

Both of these bikes come with a 6-speed manual transmission with torque-assist clutch and ride-by-wire throttle with switchable traction control. Front and rear ABS also comes as standard. However, we might have to be a bit more patient as these bikes will only be made available in January 2024.

Are you willing to wait half a year to finally be able to ride home one of these babies?
