Honda Jazz’s Beautiful Goodbye

The Honda Jazz is a popular B-segment hatchback entry from Japanese automaker Honda Motor Company, which has been a best-selling car in its class for the past years. Since its first appearance in the Philippine automotive market in July 2004, Jazz has received several approvals for its outstanding overall outcome in its segment.

For this year, Honda announced that they would discontinue the manufacturing of Honda Jazz. Although this model is one of Honda’s well-loved cars, the company has decided to shift its focus and resources to its upcoming and current models. Honda Jazz will be available until supplies last.

Why Honda Jazz?

Honda Jazz is a capable car and is versatile in functionality and performance. Before bidding our goodbyes to the Jazz, let’s take a look at why this model has been great and popular throughout its existence.

Variants

Honda Jazz comes in four variants in the Philippines. The Honda Jazz 1.5-L V Gasoline Manual Transmission variant is priced at Php868,000, followed by the Honda Jazz 1.5-L Gasoline Automatic Transmission variant which is available at Php919,000. Its Honda Jazz 1.5-L VX Navi Automatic Transmission is priced at Php1,000,000, and the top-of-the-line variant Honda Jazz 1.5 RS Navi Automatic Transmission is available at Php1,090,000 in the market.

Performance Mechanism

The 2022 Honda Jazz comes in a 1.5-liter 4-cylinder Automatic Transmission with a maximum of 118 horsepower output and 145 Nm of maximum torque output in a front-wheel drive. Its suspension comes in MacPherson Strut, Disc for its front brakes, Drum for the rears, and the parking brake is a manual type hand brake. For a small car like the Honda Jazz, it performs impressively without noticeable lag when pulling from a full stop. As for its fuel consumption with the whole powertrain system, Honda Jazz puts back a good fuel consumption while performing at its peak. A 6.8 liters per 100 kilometers in a city route was recorded upon test driving.

Exterior

The third-generation Honda jazz measures 4,035 mm in length and 1,694 mm in its width. The height is 1,524 mm, while its wheelbase measures 2,530 mm, and the ground clearance is 150 mm high. Based on these dimensions, the Honda Jazz gives a generous amount of space for a subcompact hatchback compared to its competitors in the market. One of its contributors to the total aesthetic exterior is its lighting setup. All Jazz variants come in halogen headlights to brighten the pathway, while LED headlights with LED guide lines for its top-of-the-line variant. The top-of-the-line variant also gets additional carbon-fiber-printed kits that add an aggressive and sporty appeal to the Jazz. There are six colors available for the Honda Jazz – Brilliant Sporty Blue Metallic, Modern Steel Metallic, Taffeta White, Orange Pearl, Lunar Silver, and Phoenix Orange Pearl.

Interior

Among all the B-segment hatchbacks on the market today, Honda Jazz is one of the most spacious. The whole cabin has generous spacing enough for five passengers. The legroom situation is also enormous for its class. The back row legroom still has about 10 inches of knee space allowance if the first-row passengers are of average in height. Providing a spacious interior is not the case in all hatchback cars in its segment, which makes the Honda Jazz ahead in the competition.

The seats’ upholstery is in standard fabric and is bolstered for more comfortable seating and ride balance. Another impressive feature about the Honda Jazz’s seats is its flexible configuration, which allows you to fold the seats flat for a maximized cargo space. It is a great advantage when you have the Jazz. Unlike other cars of its size, Jazz is highly flexible in providing cabin space.

As for its dashboard and other interior finishes, hard plastics cover the cabin space. However, red stitching and sporty interior accents are all over the top-of-the-line variant. It comes with a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment display system that is capable of assisting in navigation. The infotainment system supports USB, Bluetooth, AM/FM Radio, and HDMI connectivity that sends entertainment audio to six speakers around the cabin.

Safety

Although the Honda jazz is a small type of vehicle and is easy to maneuver, Honda made the Jazz packed with several safety features to ensure safe driving. It comes with a driver airbag, passenger airbag, rear airbags, anti-lock braking system, reverse camera, ISOFIX tethers, standard cruise control, child safety locks, seat belt warning, crash sensor, side-impact beams, engine check warning, door ajar warning, vehicle stability control, traction control, front impact beams, and EBD. Jazz is also equipped with security features that would come in handy in times of trouble, including the engine immobilizer, anti-theft device, anti-theft alarm, power door locks, and central locking.

With all its great features, powerful performance, and stunning totality, the Honda Jazz is a remarkable car. The model may be saying its goodbye for now, but the Honda Jazz will surely be remembered without any need for much explanation.
