Safety really saves (cash)! Get cheaper insurance with Honda SENSING models

Active-safety systems like Honda SENSING use technology to prevent you from getting into a road crash in the first place.

And insurance companies are taking notice, which is why some are offering lower premiums on vehicles equipped with these potentially life-saving features.

Honda Cars Philippines Inc. (HCPI) announced in a January 2023 press statement that it is pushing through with its Honda SENSING Insurance Partnership until Mar. 31, 2023. It covers models like the Civic, CR-V, HR-V, BR-V, and the all-new Civic Type R.

How Honda SENSING works

The Honda SENSING system uses cameras, radar, and electronic vehicle controls to assist a driver in dire driving conditions.

It features a bevy of features, such as:

  • Lead Car Departure Notification System – Gives an alert when the car in front of you has moved ahead from a standstill.

  • Collision Mitigation Brake System – Provides warning to prevent a potential collision or reduce vehicle speed to lessen the impact of an unavoidable collision.

  • Lane Keeping Assist – Keeps the vehicle at the center of the visible road lanes and in the best driving position as it guides you to follow the flow of the road.

  • Road Departure Mitigation System with Lane Departure Warning – Helps you avoid a collision by providing audible and visual warnings whenever the car swerves to the other lane without using signal lights. In contrast, the Lane Departure warning notifies you when going off-course.

  • Adaptive Cruise Control – Maintains a stable speed at a driver-determined distance from the vehicle in front.

  • Auto-High Beam – Automatically lowers the high beam when encountering oncoming traffic.

Should lower insurance for vehicles with active-safety tech become standard practice?
