Honda to Reveal an All-New Model at PIMS? Here Are Our Guesses.

Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. (HCPI) is bringing out all its wares at the September 15-18, 2022, Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS).

However, one question that the Japanese automaker went omerta upon is what all-new model they will unveil at PIMS.

The current BR-V was launched at the 2016 PIMS as a completely built-up (CBU) unit. Since then, the brand got produced locally, then reverted to CBU status when HCPI closed its Sta. Rosa (Laguna) plant in early 2020. In addition, fellow ASEAN countries (such as Indonesia and Thailand) have already launched an all-new BR-V in the past two to three months.

Another possible new model Honda can launch is the HHonda CR-V sport utility vehicle (SUV). The unit was launched in 2017 and included diesel variants and seating for more than five. Since then, the Japanese automaker pushed out a minor change to the SUV in the middle of 2020. However, the local version of this Honda SUV has yet to experience a full-blown replacement. In addition, news from abroad (particularly the US market) reported an all-new 2023 model, with significant changes that tossed in the broader grill and a hybrid version.

The Dongfeng Honda CR-V has just been revealed. This China-spec version of the 6th-Generation CR-V features three rows. Gasoline-engined versions will be launched first, with possible hybrid models in the future.

Is it also possible for the Accord executive sedan to go the minor change route for 2022? The brand had a relatively quiet launch at Makati City's Blackbird restaurant in mid-2019 and hasn't made much noise since its formal arrival.

But suppose Honda's entry-level seven-seater isn't your liking. In that case, the manufacturer claims that the new HR-V RS Turbo Honda Sensing, the accessorized City 1.5-liter CVT (continuously variable transmission), and Civic RS Turbo CVT Honda Sensing will make their respective debuts at the auto show and might pique your interest.

Honda's booth at PIMS will also showcase its Connect advanced technology platform. This feature uses one's smartphone and a Honda four-wheeler as basic building blocks to ensure occupants' safety, security, and convenience. Short of stating that Honda Connect is a personal assistant, the automotive tool has several functions in the abovementioned aspects. For example, a Honda Connect-shod unit sends an alert to your smartphone when trespassers trigger the security alarm. This should give a Honda owner an increased sense of security, even when you’re far away from the auto.

Along with test drives scheduled for the weekend, Honda is raring to engage with its loyal fanbase while hoping to reach out to a new breed of motorists with its display.

Are you excited to visit the Honda pavilion at this year's PIMS?
