Weighing the Pros and Cons of the 2022 Mitsubishi Mirage G4

There is uncertainty in everything. But it shouldn't stop us from knowing all that we can before making our choices. Especially if we are buying a car. If you’re planning to buy a 2022 Mitsubishi Mirage G4, you must also know its pros and cons. And the best persons to ask are those who have driven it.

Pros

2022 Mitsubishi Mirage G4 updated style language

Let’s be real, the Mitsubishi Mirage has been around for 10 years now and it is about time for it to have a massive glow-up. A facelift is a normal fare for cars nowadays. And they usually happen every other year in the lifespan of a vehicle. Long overdue, the redesigned front end of the Mirage G4  obviously adopts Mitsubishi’s design trend from the early Xpander, Montero Sport, and Strada. Mitsubishi's Advanced Dynamic Shield design makes the Mirage appear more sleek, modern and aggressive. Gone is the cute snout that the small car wore well.

2022 Mitsubishi Mirage G4 has a roomy and spacious cabin

Despite its diminutive dimensions, the Mitsubishi Mirage G4 comes with a roomy cabin. Surprisingly spacious, you can stretch your legs a bit and keep blood flowing in your legs.  Even with three passengers at the back, there is enough space to wiggle around.

2022 Mitsubishi Mirage G4 has generous cargo space

Not only does the Mirage G4 have a spacious cabin, but the trunk is also generous enough to afford g 450 liters of cargo space. This is great for those out-of-town trips. Unfortunately, the rear seats don’t fold down, but with the space that the Mitsubishi Mirage has at the back, you need not worry much about extra storage space. In fact, among all subcompact budget sedans in the automotive market, the Mirage G4 is one of those that have massive trunk space.

2022 Mitsubishi Mirage G4 has Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity

In the age we are living in now, technology is part and parcel of driving. It has become a need and not just a want. That is why we have to stay connected at all times and be connected wherever we drive. Fortunately, the 2022  Mitsubishi Mirage G4 supports both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. Considering the Mirage is on the budget end of brand new cars today, this is one benefit that is surely welcome.

2022 Mitsubishi Mirage G4 promises fuel efficiency

If there is something that we want and need right now, it is a vehicle that won't burden us with excessive fuel consumption. Having a fuel-efficient car that we can use daily to get to work, school, and run errands, will surely be a boon to any car buyer. The 2022 Mirage G4 still sports the proven 1.2-liter 3-cylinder MIVEC engine that it has set fuel economy run records with. With 78ps and 100 Nm and a Continuously Variable Transmission, its engine has a small enough displacement to save as much fuel in the city, but is capable enough to cruise efficiently on the highway.

Cons

2022 Mitsubishi Mirage G4 has limited safety features

I guess the saying, "You get what you pay for,"  is the reason why the Mitsubishi Mirage comes with limited safety features compared to its rivals in the same class. However, that doesn’t mean it is not a safe car to drive or be in. Driver and passenger airbags provide reassurance. Anti-lock Brake System is standard for the GLS variant. And its Reinforced Impact Safety Evolution body is designed to absorb impact and maintains cabin integrity in a collision.

2022 Mitsubishi Mirage G4's interior design looks dated

Obviously,  Mitsubishi updated the front and rear ends of the 2022  Mirage G4 for it to cope with emerging design trends.  However, the interior doesn’t match the facelift outside because the cabin looks almost the same as before. Aside from a brighter instrument cluster, there’s little to be exciting about its interiors. Fortunately, it still does the job in providing the basic needs of a modern car buyer.

2022 Mitsubishi Mirage G4 has several piano black trims

To be honest, piano black trims do look good inside the car as they add sophistication and highlight prominent parts of the console. However, the downside is they get old quickly and are very prone to scratches. If you are planning to keep the Mirage for a long while, having worn-out piano black trims can be quite disconcerting.

What do you think? Will the Mirage be on your new car shortlist any time soon?
