How Impressive is the Fuel Efficiency of the 2022 Mitsubishi Mirage G4?

When we arein the market for brand new car, we often get attracted by how they look and their price. Many other buyers even think of future expenses after making a purchase. Fuel consumption is one of those expenses inherent in car ownership. That is why Filipinos have a penchant for fuel-efficient cars, like the Mitsubishi Mirage G4.

Unlike other vehicles, a subcompact sedan like the Mirage is one of the easier ones to maintain. Not only because of its size compared to SUVs, pickups, and crossovers, but also because it is engineered to be a fuel-saving machine.

The Mitsubishi Mirage G4 has a 1.2-liter naturally-aspirated MIVEC gasoline engine that produces 78 ps and 100 Nm of torque. A Continuously Variable Transmission ensures ideal ratios that match current engine speeds. This again is designed to maximize fuel economy.

To be honest, a 1.2-liter engine is just right for vehicles of this size. However, a light body combined with efficient variable valve timing technology with its MIVEC engine and a responsive CVT all ensure that optimum fuel efficiency is achieved. This is where the Mitsubishi Mirage differs from the rest.

In a recent fuel economy run supervised by the Automobile Association Philippines, the Mirage G4 CVT was able to log a 22.8 km/l fuel efficiency record.  Under constant and ideal driving conditions, the Mirage can surely hold its own against the competition when it comes to fuel consumption.

If you are looking for an affordable car that is highly fuel-efficient, the 2022 Mitsubishi Mirage G4 is one of the top choices, hands down. If you can live with its shortcomings, it is not as plush as its peers for one, then it will surely be a car that can serve you well. And if fuel efficiency is your primary consideration when buying a budget subcompact, then again the Mirage should be near the top of your list.
