How Fuel-Thirsty is the 2022 Toyota Rush?

The Toyota Rush 2022 is Toyota Motor Corporation’s economically-friendly small SUV model. It is available in the Philippine automobile market at Php983,000 for the M/T variant, while the 1.5 E variant is at Php1,023,000 and Php1,100,000 SRP for the Toyota Rush 1.5 G A/T variant.

With the price range offered by Toyota for the rush, several Filipinos looking to buy an entry-level, 7-seater SUV include the model in their shortlist. Competing in the market against the Rush is another entry from Toyota – the Avanza. These two remain in a good spot in the last years for being some of the best-selling car models of their class in the Philippines.

If you’re considering the Toyota Rush because of its budget-friendly price offer, you might also want to consider its fuel consumption properties.

The Rush is running in a 4 Cylinder gasoline-powered, In-line, 16 Valve DOHC, Chain Drive with Dual VVT-I engine, with a 1,496 displacement. With the maximum output of 102 ps and 6000 rpm, and a maximum torque of 134 Nm and 4200 Rpm. Its power transmission is at a 4-speed automatic transmission in a rear-wheel-drive format.

With that powertrain properties, expect the Rush to consume around 8.5 to 10 L/100 km of fuel in a city drive, and 7.5 L/100 km on a highway-speed drive, depending on the driving style.

The Toyota Rush is indeed an affordable vehicle for an SUV. Its spacious cabin and safety features are some things to look forward to in this model. However, in terms of making some calculations regarding its fuel consumption, the Rush is not fuel-efficient compared to its competitors in the market.
