Mitsubishi Xpander: New vs old, what has changed?

Mitsubishi Motors Philippines is gearing up for the launch of the Mitsubishi Xpander here in Philippines. The company has been teasing the arrival of the model since August.

But did you know that the model we’re set to receive is the facelifted model, skipping the pre-facelift model altogether.

Let’s dive into the difference between the pre-facelift and facelifted model.

Exterior – Subtle changes

Perhaps the most significant change up front is the revised Dynamic Shield front-end that features a slightly larger Mitsubishi emblem and a new grille. LED headlights are nestled below the slim LED daytime running lights (DRLs).

Towards the side, the Xpander gets redesigned 16-inch dual-tone alloy wheels.

The rear-end of the updated Mitsubishi Xpander gains a new shark fin antenna – replacing the bee-sting antenna found on the pre-facelift model.

Interior – Small improvements

Changes inside are even more subtle than the exterior, as the Indo-spec facelifted Xpander gains a new 7-inch touchscreen head unit as well as a new 6-speaker audio setup.

It’s a little bit different for Pekan-assembled units, as we will be getting a different head unit with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support.

We can also expect the Malaysian-spec Xpander to feature a built-in digital video recorder (DVR).

Powertrain – If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it

Power is derived from a 1.5-litre 4A91 four-cylinder petrol engine that does 105 PS and 141 Nm, mated to a four-speed automatic transmission.

When the Mitsubishi Xpander is launched in Philippines, it will go head-to-head against the Honda BR-V, and Toyota Rush.
