Officially official: 2023 Mitsubishi Xpander Cross launched in the Philippines with a ₱1.328-M starting price tag

Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC) officially launches the 2023 Mitsubishi Xpander Cross today with an official starting price of ₱1,328,000, as we reported previously.

The latest iteration of the modern 7-seater MPV with SUV capabilities sports a new design, a reworked interior, plus new features that make the vehicle more exciting.

It also model redefines the MPV segment sporting a more advanced and progressive look while combining luxury and comfort seen in premium vehicles.

It still has a futuristic yet familiar design

The 2023 Mitsubishi Xpander Cross comes with the brand’s latest iteration of the “Dynamic Shield” design language, which was developed to excuse a more “active” and “outdoorsy” image for the seven-seater vehicle.

It still sports black wheel arch moldings, door garnishes, and side sills. These elements give the Xpander Cross a taller stance, while the rear and front bumpers are more macho, with the guard bar motif rails.

Roof rails are now standard for the vehicle along with its T-Shaped LED headlights with daytime running lights and LED fog lights.

On the side, the new Xpander Cross has 17-inch wheels and a redesigned rear that shows off a bolder appearance with its refreshed tailgate and LED taillights.

On top of all of this, the seven-seater MPV still retains its class-leading 225 mm of ground clearance.

A more comfortable and convenient cabin

The interior of the 2023 Mitsubishi Xpander Cross has been reimagined with comfort and convenience in mind with its new “Horizontal Axis” dashboard that smoothly integrates all the interior elements at the front.

It comes with soft padded materials with actual stitching in a navy blue shade.

Aside from this, the seven-seater also gets a new 4-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel similar to the design of the Mitsubishi Montero Sport with tilt and telescopic function.

For more modern features, the new Xpander Cross comes with an 8-inch LCD digital meter cluster and a digital AC system with a max cool button to help you rapidly cool the cabin.

The seven-seater vehicle also sports new leather seats in navy blue soft-touch padding with switching; it comes with a unique material that suppresses any increase in surface temperature with the brand’s heat guard technology.

It also sports a 7-inch Smartphone-link Display Audio (SDA-3) system that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

With better practicality in mind, Mitsubishi has upgraded the front console to a larger capacity front tray while still having a 12V outlet and USB port.

More storage and charing options

The new Xpander Cross has a more spacious luggage room than ever, thanks to its adaptive seating arrangements and versatile storage compartments.

The leather-wrapped armrest can easily store a tissue pack and four 600 ml-sized bottles in the main space.

In the second row, the Mitsubishi MPV has two USB ports, consisting of a Type-A and Type-C port embedded at the back of the console.

An armrest with built-in cup holders gives passengers at the back.

Front-row and luggage under trays, multi-function seat-back pockets, and third-row power outlets are present for additional storage and convenience.

Thanks to the versatile cargo space that the new Mitsubishi Xpander Cross offers, it can easily fit items such as 4-gallon water bottles, strollers, bikes, and camping gear behind its last row.

Better drivability and safety

Aside from the exterior and interior upgrades to the 2023 Mitsubishi Xpander Cross, it also gets a few unseen enhancements.

These start with the new rear suspension system that has adopted the same components as the
Mitsubishi Montero Sport. The enlarged rear shock absorber results in a more comfortable and stable ride, even on rough roads. This, together with advanced safety features such as Active Stability Control (ASC), Hill Start Assist (HAS), and Traction Control (TCL), ensures that every drive is safe and memorable.

Like the regular Xpander, this version also comes with available cruise control.

The old manual handbrake has been removed for this new seven-seater version and replaced by an electronic parking brake instead of a brake hold feature.

Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution-derived Active Yaw Control has also been added to the new Xpander Cross, giving you better stability on sharp turns, especially on slippery road surfaces, by individually braking specific wheels.

Familiar power with competitive pricing

Under the hood, the Mitsubishi Xpander Cross is still powered by a 1.5 1.5 MIVEC DOHC 16-valve with 104 hp and 141 nm torque mated to a four-speed automatic transmission. Yes, it is confirmed, no CVT for the Philippine market.

“With the New Xpander Cross, they (customers) can comfortably and confidently go out and experience the scenic places of the Philippines. Hence our tagline: “Cross the Current.” Where your family can expand horizons in comfort and style. It is as if you are crossing into a new world filled with memorable experiences.” said Mr. Takeshi Hara, MMPC’s President, and CEO.

The Mitsubishi Xpander Cross has four color options:  Sunrise Orange Metallic Metallic (2-Tone), Quartz White Pearl (2-Tone), Graphite Gray Metallic, and Blade Silver.

The Monotone color options will cost you ₱1,328,000, while the two-tone paint scheme will cost you ₱1,338,000. The Quarte White Pearl paint job, however, will cost you ₱1,353,000.

Do you think these upgrades to the Mitsubishi Xpander Cross are good enough for 2023?
