The Real Reasons Behind the 2022 Toyota Camry Hybrid's Price Tag

Popular cars are well-loved for a reason. The Nissan GT-R has enticed car enthusiasts and rich boy-racers because of its supercar-killing performance and timeless appeal. The Toyota Innova is popular in the Philippines because of its affordability, cabin size, and fuel efficiency. The Ford Ranger Raptor is a top choice among off-roaders because of its robust off-road components and abilities. It's the same thing with the Toyota Camry, it is one of the prime choices for executives and the upper class because of its plush sophistication and classy demeanor. But that comes at a price.

We all know that going for a premium car model requires some cash. In the case of the 2022 Toyota Camry, it costs more than double the price of other sedan models like the Toyota Vios, Mitsubishi Mirage, Honda City, and Nissan Almera. What seems to be so special about the Camry for Toyota to charge you Php 2,355,000?

One of the most important aspects of any vehicle is its performance. This is at the heart of every car and from there, everything else follows. Under the hood of the 2022 Toyota Camry is a 2.5-liter 2AR-FE Inline-4 gasoline engine that produces 178 ps and 221 Nm of torque. This is mated to a continuously variable transmission in the front-wheel drivetrain configuration. Aside from that, the all-new Toyota Camry now comes as a hybrid. That should make fuel consumption better than the previous version. Because the hybrid system has an engine that not only assists the electric motors but also charges the onboard batteries, this premium sedan can now run longer at 22.5 to 24 kilometers per liter. For such a large sedan, this is not just unexpected, but highly impressive as well.

The 2022 Toyota Camry Hybrid will also make you feel more like a VIP as the rear seats come with touch-sensitive function buttons. These allow the passengers to control the blinds, and air-con temperature and adjust the rear seats, to have optimal comfort while cruising. Aside from that, the cabin is spacious enough to give ample legroom and headroom for everyone. Design-wise, the Toyota Camry is sophisticatedly stylish in every way, from the exterior profile all the way to inside the cabin. And those are what make the Toyota Camry Hybrid a pricey executive sedan.  Is the extra premium worth it? I don't know about you, but for me, it's a yes!
