To compete in the demanding subcompact crossover category, Toyota has introduced the Raize in the Philippine market this 2022. As expected, Toyota didn’t disappoint the Filipino market as the Raize comes full-packed with advanced features and decent styling at a budget-friendly price. Its name was dragged all over the country as it has been one of the hottest car models of the year.
The all-new Toyota Raize is available in four variants in the Philippine automotive market. The Toyota Raize 1.2 E comes in both manual transmission and CVT variants. The Toyota Raize 1.2 E Manual Transmission variant is priced at Php746,000 while Php816,000 for the CVT. On the other hand, the Toyota Raize 1.2 G CVT variant is available at Php906,000. Its top-of-the-line variant Toyota Raize 1.0 Turbo CVT is priced at Php1,031,000 while its White Pearl SE/Black premium color variant costs Php1,036,000.
Aside from its White Pearl SE/Black premium color, it also comes in Gray Metallic, Silver Metallic, Red, Yellow SE/Black, and Turquoise Mica Metallic colors.
There are two engine choices for the 2022 Toyota Raize. The 1.2-liter naturally aspirated three-cylinder gasoline-powered engine that the Raize G variants use, produces 96 horsepower and 140 Nm of torque output mated to a five-speed manual transmission or a CVT. On the other hand, the 1.0-liter turbocharged three-cylinder gasoline-powered engine found under the hood of the top-of-the-line variant produces 87 horsepower and 113 Nm of torque output mated to a CVT. Both variants are in front-wheel drivetrain configuration and front-engine layout. The Raize uses MacPherson strut front suspension and a torsion beam rear suspension setup. For the brakes, it comes with ventilated disc brakes at the front and trailing drum brakes at the rear.
The 2022 Toyota Raize may have a resemblance to the Toyota Rav4 in a way, but its exterior profile is a fresh look in the lineup. It features a diverse front fascia with massive LED headlamps with accent lights. Its halogen daytime running lights with fog lamps and sensors are found below on each side of the massive radiator air vent grille. Above the grille is the Toyota logo badge, highlighted by the hood that tapers down towards the face of the Raize.
The interior design and comfortability of the 2022 Raize are unexpected for a car of its price point as the cabin looks premium. Despite that the cabin was almost entirely made from hard plastic material, Toyota did a good job in presenting the Raize with decency. The dashboard is in black with chrome accents on the air-con vents, panel, doors, and steering wheel. The steering wheel comes with paddle shifters and is covered with soft leather stitching that gives the driver a good grip when maneuvering. Behind the steering wheel is a wide digital instrument cluster that complements the digital infotainment touchscreen at the center of the panel, which supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.
Toyota makes sure that its customers are safe and secured at all times with the Raize’s advanced safety features. It has the standard ABS with EBD, seven airbags, seat belts, seat belt warning, child safety locks, parking sensors, and parking assist. It also has hill-start assist, day and night rearview mirror, rear camera, vehicle stability control system, crash sensors, door ajar warning, engine immobilizer, anti-theft device and alarm, front impact beams, side-impact beams, reverse sensors, clearance and back sonar, rear-cross traffic alert system, and blind-spot monitoring system.
