What You Should Know About 2022 Kia Sorento: 4 Pros and 4 Cons Before Buying

Deciding on what car model to buy this 2022 is tough as several car models are competent enough to be the best in their respective classes. In the mid-size crossover SUV class, one that stands out is the Kia Sorento. This Korean-made vehicle has a futuristic approach from its exterior to its performance. And to know what are its pros and cons, listed below might help you decide if this crossover SUV is the one you're looking for.

Pros

Its exterior design language is fascinating.

The design language of the new Kia Sorento almost looks like an American car model like Ford and Chevrolet; it sets itself apart from its sibling Korean-made cars. The front clip features a very modern air vent grille pattern following the trend. The headlights together with the daytime running lights are also aggressive-looking that has an intimidating and provoking presence on the road. At the back, the rear profile of the Sorento also features a sophisticated and modern look with its massive vertical taillights and expressive horizontal character lines. The rear also comes with details below, like a fake air vent matching the radiator vent at the front.

The front row seats have a power heating and cooling function.

If you live in a tropical country like the Philippines, the power-cooling front-row seats of the Kia Sorento will be one of your favorite features. It provides additional comfort, especially if you're in the middle of a heavy traffic situation in EDSA. It will be beneficial for the driver and the front passenger to cool off when the sun is facing the windshield. On the other hand, the power heating feature may not be that useful in the Philippines compared to other countries, but it is impressive that its Korean manufacturer has decided to put both. Although some prefer to have just the cooling function, having both features implies that the company is prepared to cater to the needs of every people.

It has a generously spacious cabin.

Unlike its competitors in the market, the cabin space of the new Kia Sorento is generous to whoever will occupy the seats, especially since its legroom is more than enough even for a basketball player-tall person. Not only that the Sorento has massive legroom for long drive leg stretches, but the space in front of the passengers can also serve as space for hand carries and small luggage. The headroom is also spacious, enough for tall people, and is a factor in having a well-ventilated cabin. When it comes to elbow space, there is nothing to worry about, as the Sorento is wide enough to accommodate three people in the second row and two persons in the third row.

It comes with power-adjustable thigh and lumbar support.

Weeks before, I was impressed by how the Mini Cooper comes with a power-adjustable lumbar support and thigh support for the driver. Never have I thought, that I will be able to see such advancement and convenient support from a Korean-made vehicle. Truly, Kia has grown to be an innovative car company that dives into technology and applies every learning and invention to satisfy its customers' needs and wants. Before, we were dreaming about having lumbar support and additional length for the driver's seat, but car companies like Kia have set the bar high in meeting the expectations of the automotive industry in modern times.

Cons

The third-row floor is almost close to the seats.

As said a while ago, the Sorento 2022 comes with impressively-generous cabin space, especially the legroom. The legroom space from the first row to the last row is roomy, and that's a fact. However, the third-row floor is close to the third-row seats as if the row is intentionally for children and not for adults. Although it doesn't mean that it cannot accommodate full-grown adults at the back, it's just that children are more ideal than grown-ups. Plus, it could cause body pain for adults when on a long drive.

It is not a budget-friendly choice.

In the Philippines, the 2022 Kia Sorento is priced from Php2,398,000 for the base variant to Php2,598,000 for its top-of-the-line entry. Evidently, its price range is one of the most expensive in its class, considering that it doesn't have several innovative features its rivals have. Although it has several desirable features to boast, its price offering is still not budget-friendly, especially in the Philippines, where several affordable car models are present. Because of this, some people are keen to seek other mid-size crossover SUV models, which is a disadvantage for Kia.

The cargo space is limited.

It is disappointing that even though the Sorento is a massive type of car, the cargo space is limited. It seems like it can only accommodate two duffel bags when the rear seats are upright. I know that it can be expanded, but when it does, the third-row seats will be compromised. The limited cargo space may have been the result of having generous legroom space. Nevertheless, you just have to decide which comfort suits your needs and wants.

Its Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity aren't wireless.

Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity are common features of modern cars today, and Kia Sorento comes with those. However, for a car as expensive as the Kia Sorento, you were hoping that the connection would be wireless, but it isn't. Rather, it can be connected via screen mirroring or connection cables.
