Now with an automatic: Suzuki S-Presso AGS officially launched, priced at ₱660,000

Suzuki Philippines has officially launched the 2023 Suzuki S-Presso with its new AGS transmission.

The S-presso originally entered the Philippine market as a bare-bones hatchback with only a 5-speed manual transmission. It was simple and easy no thrills, no frills point A to point B transportation.

However, as the S-Presso gained a small following in the local market, its owners and interested buyers alike wanted more from the hatchback.

To answer their call, the Japanese automaker gave the vehicle minor updates starting with adding alloy wheels to update the exterior.

Now, Suzuki is giving its small hatchback a new Auto Gear Shift (AGS) transmission, an automated manual also found in the Dzire and Celerio, to reach a bigger audience, especially those who don’t want to drive  stick.

A familiar exterior

On the outside, the Suzuki S-Presso AGS is the same as the special edition variant with alloy wheels.

It retains its boxy front with its small halogen headlights and C-shaped taillights but now gets additions such as power side-view mirrors.

These are minor changes, but they give the small hatchback more value for money.

Utilitarian Interior

Inside, the Suzuki S-Presso AGS is still the same as ever, with no changes to the overall layout of the vehicle.

The meter cluster is still in the dashboard's center, displaying your fuel level and speed.

However, Suzuki has added a new 7-inch infotainment system to the vehicle that now has access to Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The previous version of the hatchback only had Bluetooth connectivity.

Other changes to the vehicle include a new electronic stability program, hands-free Bluetooth audio controls, an overhead microphone, and a side-view mirror control switch.

"New" 1.0-liter 3-cylinder engine

Under the hood, the Suzuki S-Presso AGS is powered by a K10C DUALJET 1.0-liter 3-cylinder naturally aspirated engine to its new 5-speed automated manual transmission. It's the same engine found in its sibling, the Suzuki Celerio, and it still produces 67 horsepower and 90 Nm of torque.

To further improve the fuel efficiency of the hatchback, Suzuki Philippines has given it an Engine Auto Stop Start (EASS) system so you can save fuel while you are at a stop light.

Affordable and attractive pricing

Despite adding the new automated manual transmission, the Suzuki S-Presso retains its attractive pricing, which is found below:

S-PRESSO GL AGS    ₱660,000
S-PRESSO GL MT    ₱620,000

Was the addition of the new automatic transmission too little too late for Suzuki or just right on time?
