2 minutes or less: Isuzu creates a battery swapping station for electric trucks

No more extended waiting times as Isuzu has revealed its EVision Cycle Concept at the Japan Mobility Show 2023. It's a battery-swapping station for electric trucks that provides convenience in use.

It only takes minutes for the station to swap out the battery packs and put in a fresh set. The station does the heavy lifting by charging these battery packs to be ready for the next person to use.

The fundamental goal of the prototype station is to allow the continuous use of electric trucks without them having to be parked for long periods while they charge, which increases operation costs. Ensuring that the trucks get a fresh set of batteries as quickly as possible lets them get back into rotation and allows the business owner to utilize them more efficiently.

Cost savings in two minutes or less

Isuzu says the battery packs can be removed and replaced in less than two minutes and help reduce the burden on the electric power grid, which has become vital in the age of electrification.

As the truck manufacturer moves forward with its goal of becoming a carbon-neutral company in the next few years, it aims to make a practical battery-swapping system. However, for it to work properly there has to be a demand for electric trucks.

Battery swapping isn’t a new concept, as it is already being done in other countries, which allows the EV user to keep on the move without having to wait for their batteries to charge. It also offers them the same convenience as driving an internal combustion engine vehicle, which only takes a few minutes to refuel.

Isuzu could be on to something with the battery swapping station, as trucks still play a vital role in the economies of all countries. They haul cargo to and from locations, bringing vital goods to wherever they are needed.

Toyota wants to bring the FJ Cruiser back, as the Japanese automaker has filed for a trademark of its nameplate. The information about it was published on the Japanese website “Chizai Watch,” where a Land Cruiser Forum user discovered it filed under the “Land Cruiser FJ” trademark. The Japanese brand has already submitted the paperwork needed for an application on October 27 in Class 12, reserved for “ vehicles; apparatus for locomotion by land, air or water,” according to an official document p
The Toyota GAZOO Racing (TGR) Vios Cup is holding its final leg of the season on Nov. 11, 2023 at the Clark International Speedway. Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) said in a November 2023 press statement that the highlight of the day would be the first-ever Grand Prix, which is a one-and-a-half-hour endurance race where drivers are ranked according to who finishes the most number of laps. Unlike sprint races, which are focused on staying ahead of the pack in 10 to 12 laps, endurance racing is a t
When the first generation of the Ford Ranger Raptor launched into the market, Ford Philippines had a hit on its hands as the off-road-ready pickup truck came quickly flying out of showroom floors with buyers clamoring to get a unit. Fast forward to 2023, and the next generation of the pickup has entered the Philippine market with similar fanfare. However, in other markets, the Raptor is available with a twin-turbo V6 under the hood that offers more power than what the previous 2.0-liter bi-turbo

Blade Mindanao Avenue, which was opened in 2020, is also the brand’s first-ever “all-in-one” shop. Besides offering two expansive floors of the usual accessorie
Disclosure: GWM Philippines kindly lent me a 2023 Haval Jolion Supreme HEV for eight days. It arrived with loaded RFID cards and a Shell fuel card. AutoFun Philippines paid for a carwash. When I was a kid, I swore by one specific brand of orange juice (which I shall not name, but it’s a brand that’s beloved by many). I simply could not have a meal without this overly sugary beverage that greatly contributed to my, shall we say, “portly” physique in grade school. And it had so many artificial ing
