Highlights of the Hyundai Kona You Need to Know

The Hyundai Kona is a great package but with a few things to nitpick. Some say the handling and the driving experience of the Kona are good, and with good fuel economy, it's even better. It also has a very stylish exterior, that is worthy of being Hyundai's entry to the five-door subcompact sedan crossover segment in the country. There are, although, a few things that should be improved for the Kona. Here is your Nitpicker's Guide.

Great Exterior, Underwhelming Interior

This is a bad metaphor, but the Kona is like being attracted to a very attractive individual but later on being surprised at the person's collection of skeletons in the closet. Or maybe a little less bad. You're just not happy at how the Kona is in the interior after being hyped by its great exterior. I know, a video game to the name of Cyberpunk 2077. Hyped but inside it's glitchy. Okay, the Kona isn't that bad, as Cyberpunk is the most hyped game that underdelivered. But you get the idea. The Kona's interior made of soft-touch materials, fabric, plastics, and faux leather is a bit of a downer from how futuristic and classy it looks from the outside. Now let's move on and skip the bad metaphors.

Claustrophobia on the Second Row

Well, this is another exaggeration, but you'd get the idea. The car can fit five average-sized adults but with the sweeping roofline at the back, taller passengers may find it a bit discomfort. Also, there is an average-sized trunk space for things you'd bring, although all in all, the internal space of the Kona seems a bit smaller for a crossover. I mean this is one of the reasons why crossovers are preferred for their cousins who did not cross over (i.e. sedans). The space inside is decent but you'd think of a larger space, so there's that.

Just a Little 'Tech' late

Sorry for the 'pilit' pun. But you get the picture right? Little tech and a little too late for its competitors. Now even cheaper models would have compensated for their shortcomings with a good infotainment system, with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto sometimes, to promote ease of use. Well, despite the Kona's price tag, it has a monochromatic screen that is not a touch screen by the way, and maybe you'd be happy to know that there is Bluetooth connectivity to your phone and decent car speakers. Or not. Well, add to the fact that there are literally no charging ports at the back. There is also no backup camera or even parking sensors. With its price point, this is already sounding like a crime.

At PHP 1.188 million, you'd have certain expectations for a car like the Kona, but you know, not all cars have it all, that's why you can always choose what you like best that suits your needs and probably your wants, as well. To do that, always remember to remove your rosy-colored glasses and get ready to nitpick. Maybe, the Kona is something you'd like despite the nitpicked items, maybe not. It's all up to you to decide.
