2022 Geep Gladiator Philippines Price: Is it worth to pay P3,890,000

Most of us have our dream cars. For girls like me, crossovers and small cars are my cups of tea. But it's the other way around for most boys, as they want something aggressive and dominating on the road. And perhaps no other kind of vehicle can be both other than a high-performance pickup truck.

Even though several pickup models roam around and outside the city today, one stands out because of its iconic attributes and stance.  On- and off-road, there is one pickup that carries itself with self-assured confidence. The ultimate toy for the big boy – the Jeep Gladiator.

Unlike its rivals, the Gladiator doesn't have to explain why it has become an aspirational model for a lot of people. Its appeal is both for men and women. And its abilities, and looks, are unique in the automotive world. With a price tag of Php 3,890,000, it sits on top of its other popular rivals in the segment, including the Ford Ranger Raptor. But, is it worth it to spend a fortune for a pickup?

First of all, you can't buy legacy. The Jeep brand has become iconic because of its heritage and the performance that it has associated itself with.  Aside from its trademark exterior and interior design, it is capable of many impressive feats. Did you know that its roof, windshields, doors, and tailgate are all removable? This gives you the freedom to customize it according to your mood and where you're headed off to. Pretty amazing how versatile and customizable it can be.

In terms of durability, Jeep engineers did think of its off-road prowess when they were designing the Gladiator. As the only trail-rated pickup in the market today, it is built with durable, high-quality plastics for the fenders and other exterior and interior bits to help it survive the rough and tumble of the outdoors.  It has a 31.5-inch (800 mm) water fording depth. And according to Jeep, any electronics below this line should be submersible. And anything above that should be water-resistant. That is very considerate, especially since it is an off-road vehicle and it will really get muddy and all-wet after a fun adventure. To wash off all the mud inside the car, Jeep made it a point that the floors are washable once the carpets are removed, which is incredibly impressive. Jeep indeed crafted the Gladiator for a variety of wild adventures.

When it comes to performance, Jeep assures that you will attain satisfaction in return for your millions as the Gladiator promises to be ready for any excursion. Its four-wheel-drive configuration and extended articulation give an engaging connection to a variety of surfaces. And the 285 horsepower 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine, along with the 8-speed automatic transmission is one of the smoothest among pickups. Plus, if you are an off-roader, its Tru-Lok electronic locking differentials, front and rear Dana test 44 axles, and Off-Road+ mode will surely get you over a wide range of obstacles.  But it doesn't mean that the Gladiator is just for the boondocks, no. It also shines on paved roads, and cruises in head-turning style whenever in the city.

Although, like any other car it's not perfect. It is also lacking in some aspects like driving visibility. Given its design language, driver visibility is not the best compared to other pickup trucks. Also, the NVH is compromised because the removable roof is not well insulated. Nevertheless, it only takes a bit of analysis to determine your priorities and what you think you can compromise to attain them. After all, a price tag worth almost four million pesos is not petty for impulse purchases. Will the Jeep Gladiator satisfy you? That's something only you can answer yourself.
