2022 Driving Comaprision: Changan CS35 Plus vs Geely Coolray

Truly, Chinese automobile brands are making noise in the local market as they introduce their promising models at an affordable price. There are Chinese brands that are present for the past years already in the country, including the Geely. But this 2022, another brand from China attempts to conquer the Japanese automotive veterans and its other Chinese automotive rivals in the Philippines – the Changan.

For the past few years, subcompact crossover Geely Coolray has rapidly increased its sales and is now the best-selling model in the class in the entire country, conquering automotive giants Toyota, Nissan, and Honda. Since Changan introduced the CS35 Plus in the country, it was immediately compared to the Geely Coolray as they both belong in the same category, they are both Chinese brands, and they share several characteristics. Aside from the aesthetics and price point, overall driving performance is the most important aspect to take into consideration.

Can the 2022 Changan CS35 Plus overpower the 2022 Geely Coolray on the road?

Geely Coolray has been loved by many Filipinos because of its performance beyond its style and affordability. Its 1.5-liter engine is reliable in and out of the city. The moment you stepped your foot on the gas pedal, the torque power kicks in immediately, especially when it is in turbo mode. There is less turbo lag compared to the Changan CS35 Plus. Although the CS35 Plus is enjoyable to drive, there is a delay in its turbo mode. There is a learning curve and time needed for you to get used to its power delivery.

In terms of riding comfort, the two models are different, as the Coolray is on the firm side, while the CS35 Plus comes with a soft suspension setup. The soft suspension of the CS35 Plus provides comfort, which is ideal for passengers looking for relaxation while on the road. On the other hand, the firm suspension setup of the Coolray gives you the assurance and confidence to take corner turns with stability. Overall, they are different when it comes to driving as they target different kinds of users in the market.
