Is the 2022 Changan CS35 Plus Fuel-Efficient Enough for You?

There are instances when we would realize that fuel efficiency is the most critical factor in getting a vehicle, with the continuously rising fuel costs these days. I never imagined fuel prices could go as much as five times their cost before. That is why even if we already have vehicles for daily use, we keep looking for alternative vehicles. If there is a new one that promises better fuel efficiency to aid our distress with the seemingly helpless fuel cost problems, it piques our interest.

As the new Chinese-made subcompact SUV Changan CS35 Plus enters the local market with promising features, stunning aesthetics, and robust performance, people are hoping that fuel efficiency is a part of its campaign. There is no direct statement from Changan that their 2022 CS35 Plus comes with an impressive fuel economy. That is why people have been eager to try it for a test spin to gauge its fuel consumption as soon as it was introduced.

Although different driving styles contribute to fuel efficiency, the figures lie within a specific range under other road circumstances. According to tests, the 2022 Changan CS35 Plus runs around seven to eight kilometers per liter with light to moderate traffic on city drive. On the other hand, when you run the highway, it returns 14 to 20 kilometers per liter, which is unexpected, coming from a seven km/l output in the city.

In a fuel-economy run conducted by the Automobile Association Philippines, the Changan CS35 Plus was able to register  21.495 kilometers per liter. But that was while traveling at 60 to 80 km/h from NLEx Balagtas to Tarlac City and back. Indeed there must have been some traffic along the highway, so the results seem plausible.

The fuel economy figures in the city are not impressive, especially considering that it is only a subcompact crossover. This might be the repercussion of having a 1.4-liter engine to carry all the CS35's weight, as it produces just enough power in everyday driving. What is worth noting is its stellar highway mileage. It seems cruising at steady speeds is its forte.

Will you consider the Changan CS35 Plus if you live outside the metro?
