Does 2022 Changan CS35 Plus Prove Itself with 6 Pros and 2 Cons?

A new contender in the local market gets popular with its affordability, style, and offerings – the 2022 Changan CS35 Plus. This Chinese-made subcompact sedan is proving to the Philippine automotive market that it has what it takes to compete with the most trusted and award-winning automobiles in our time. To have an insight into what's behind the 2022 CS35 Plus, a list of its pros and cons is below.

Pros

It comes with a modernly stylish exterior profile

I think that we should get used to the fact that Chinese-made cars introduced nowadays have a modern European-made vehicle vibe as they come competitive enough to conquer the fierce automotive battle. Upfront, the 2022 Changan CS35 Plus comes with a massive radiator air vent grille that goes with the modern trend of vehicles today. It is paired with slim Led headlamps that were stretched by a thin LED light strip towards both ends, which is a unique design for the front fascia, as we often see strip lights that stretch across the entire width of the rear part of the car. Honestly speaking, Chinese people have good taste when it comes to the looks of the products that they export.

It comes with impressive value for money

The 2022 Changan CS35 Plus starts at Php898,000 up to Php999,000, which makes it impressively affordable considering all the features and premium finish it has to offer. Its closest rival Geely Coolray, which is also a Chinese-made car model, was sought-after these past few years because of its affordable price point while making sure that it will satisfy its customers with all the features and performance it has. The popularity of the Geely Coolray is still there this 2022, but the CS35 Plus is now making noise in the local automotive world as it offers almost the same features as the Geely Coolray but at a much more affordable price offering in the market.

The cockpit is premium and decent-looking

I have mentioned above that the exterior profile of the 2022 Changan CS35 Plus has a European automobile vibe. That is no different when you enter the cabin. The dashboard panel looks premium, and the function buttons will give you a Lamborghini, BMW, and Audi vibe. Some buttons come in silver touches with a few piano black trims that complement its black, red, and silver theme. The dashboard surface has a noticeable sleek and minimalist style language, which is common in premium cars of other brands. What's crazy is that it costs way cheaper than its competitors, which have a premium-looking interior as it does.

It is easy to handle

It is easy to find an affordable car. It is also easy to spot a good-looking car. But it is not easy to find the perfect car that suits your liking when it comes to driving, as it couldn't be compromised. Sometimes we say, "oh, that's fine, as long as it costs cheaper" or "I'm looking for the most good-looking car". Changan has an answer to all of those in just a single car model – the 2022 Changan CS35 Plus. There's nothing much to elaborate about when it comes to proving that the CS35 Plus is a really good-looking car. And it is evidently one of the most affordable cars in its class in the local market. The good news is that it is also easy to handle, which is beneficial for the driver, for him to easily maneuver the vehicle.

It is unexpectedly responsive

To be honest, if a car is new on the market, and it is offered at a very affordable price, you kind of have thoughts about what could go wrong after-sales. That is the reality. In the case of the 2022 Changan CS35 Plus, not only that it is one of the most good-looking cars in the class and that it is also one of the most affordable subcompact SUVs available today, you will be impressed to know that its road performance is stellar as well. The response is unexpectedly responsive, the power kicks in the soonest you accelerate it. Although of course, there's still a learning curve to using it, it is good that it supplies the power you need on the road to pull the entire weight of the car effortlessly.

Its cabin is generously spacious

Several subcompact SUVs in the market today have a generously spacious cabin. That's what you get from a vehicle in this category. I mean, you opt to get a subcompact SUV because you wanted to experience the accommodation of a sedan with additional cabin space and vehicle height. That is why it is unlikely for a subcompact SUV to have limited space for the passengers inside the cabin. Nonetheless, there is nothing to worry about the legroom and headroom space provided inside the cabin, for the occupants to have a comfortable trip.

Cons

There's too much red upholstery

This may not be included in all the reviews regarding the 2022 Changan CS35 Plus you might read, but it still counts as a negative trait of the CS35 Plus for me. The exterior of the CS35 Plus comes with some red accents, which makes it stand out from the rest of the subcompact SUV local lineup. It also makes the exterior profile look premium, and to be honest, it's kind of a head-turner. When you get in, those red accents outside continue inside. The only difference is that it is not only an accent color inside, but it seems to dominate the cabin which is not bad, but also not that good. Although some might love it, I guess it's not for everyone's liking.

There's no Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity

Seldom do we see modern cars in our time that don't support Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, as it is now the standard when it comes to infotainment technology. It's a disappointment that even though the CS35 Plus comes with several desirable features, a good-looking style language, and an affordable price, the package isn't complete as it doesn't come with either iOS or Android connectivity. Although, of course, it isn't a deciding factor whether it is worth its price or not. It comes to whoever gets it.
