2022 Jeep Gladiator Short Review: Four Pros and Four Cons You Should Know

American pickup trucks have been obviously dominant in the class, in the global market, as they come with powerful off-road capabilities and impressively innovative features. The Jeep Gladiator has been an icon for several years in the automotive industry in terms of its performance, style, and features. This year, this pickup truck promises to be colossal in upscaling its iconic attributes.

Pros

It sticks to its iconic looks.

It is undeniable that one way or the other we have thought about what it feels like driving or even just riding the iconic Jeep in an off-road adventure. Like its sibling Jeep Wrangler, the Jeep Gladiator features an iconic exterior profile with its seven vertical vent slots and round headlights. Over the years, it has maintained its looks into pristine presence in several countries, including the Philippines. As an icon in off-road driving, not only that other car brands look up to it because of its powerful performance, but also because of its rugged looks which give an impression that the Gladiator is a total rockstar off-roader. On the other hand, its iconic beauty continues inside the cabin with its nostalgic yet modern dashboard panel design. The infotainment display comes in a square shape which resembles the seven vertical vent slats on its front fascia, and the air-con vents are still circle-shaped like the headlamps.

The riding comfort is surprisingly impressive.

When you are planning on getting an off-road vehicle like the Jeep Gladiator, you kind of expect it to be bouncy and uncomfortable as you take it over arduous terrains and frightening slopes. Surprisingly, the Jeep Gladiator is one of the most comfortable off-road vehicles available in the market today. The suspension it comes with is one of the best in the industry and is fit for a heavy off-roader like the Gladiator. Plus, its seats will make you feel as if you are not riding an off-road vehicle as it supports your back and thighs well. There might be some disturbances depending on the type of terrain, but this pickup truck is comfortable on every adventure.

It comes with superb versatility.

I think we have all heard about how versatile Jeep Wrangler is when it comes to converting the vehicle according to your preference. Pickup truck Gladiator is capable of as capable, too. The entire roof, the windshield, and all the doors are removable for you to enjoy your off-road adventure even more. It promotes being a part of nature and taking off-roading to the next level. Impressively, Jeep is the first and only vehicle manufacturer to incorporate such flexibility in the Wrangler and the Gladiator. Being able to do this feature, the Gladiator has a high advantage over its competitors in the same class.

It is a total rockstar off-roader.

All pickup trucks in the market today are amazingly capable of performing beastly in an off-road adventure. But the iconic Jeep off-roader vehicles continuously prove to the automotive industry that they are getting even better each year in providing utmost performance. Jeep pickup truck gladiator is on top of its game as it is a total rockstar on the off-road track. It was built to conquer arduous terrains, floods, and dreadful slopes. It makes taking difficult driving enjoyable because of its above-standard components and impressive driving functionalities.

Cons

The insulation is not the best.

The Gladiator was built with high-quality materials to be tough and sturdy. However, it is not the best in its class in providing good car insulation as the wind and road noise could be disturbing and uncomfortable. It must have been the result of having a removable roof, doors, and windshield as those must be made out of light materials to get easily removed. Although it is a thumbs-down point for the Gladiator, it is incomparable to the high level of versatility of the pickup truck. Nevertheless, for a great feature, there is always a compromise.

Its payload capacity is lower than its rivals.

The bed of the 2022 Jeep Gladiator has a total of 771 kilograms payload capacity which is lower than its rivals have. Most pickup trucks available today can carry a ton of cargo, which is smaller compared to the Gladiator. Normally, a vehicle in this class can load a standard-sized motorcycle on the bed, but this particular Jeep model, unfortunately, can’t. Evidently, the Gladiator may be a perfect off-roader, but if you are looking for a cargo mover, it might not be the one for you.

It is not an ideal vehicle to maneuver inside the city.

Given the fact, that the Jeep Gladiator is a massive pickup truck, maneuvering it around the city could be difficult and stressful, especially in tight spaces and heavy traffic situations. Some might say that we use it just for off-roading outside the city, but it is still inevitable not to roll it inside the city, even every once in a while. In addition to its massive build, the visibility is a little compromised as well because the hood is raised high, which needs some time to get used to.

It is an expensive pickup truck choice.

Priced at Php3,890,000 up to Php4,990,000, the 2022 Jeep Gladiator will indeed hurt your budgeted pockets as it is one of the most expensive pickup trucks in the market. Although being expensive doesn’t end there, several factors contribute to its price. The craftsmanship its manufacturer poured into it to become one of the best in its class for several years is iconic and remarkable.
