All Features Reviews of 2022 Chevrolet Trailblazer: Is it roomy?

The Chevrolet Trailblazer was originally a mid-size SUV entry since 1998 before it bid its goodbye in 2020. The automotive industry never thought that the Trailblazer would make a comeback as a subcompact crossover SUV in the same year. When Chevrolet unveiled the all-new Trailblazer, it has been phenomenally recognized as one of the most good-looking crossovers in the Philippines and internationally. The change in class of the Trailblazer may have been an answer of the American manufacturer to the rapidly growing popularity of and demand for crossovers.

Since it has changed a lot from its looks and built, expectedly there must have been changes to its components and features as well.

Prices and Colors

The all-new Chevrolet Trailblazer is available in two variants in the Philippines, the Chevrolet Trailblazer Crossover 1.3 LT Automatic Transmission and the Chevrolet Trailblazer Crossover 1.3 Premier Automatic Transmission. The LT variant is priced at Php1,488,888 while the Premier is at Php1,621,000.

On the other hand, both variants are available in eight colors, Abalone White Tri-coat, Blue Glow Metallic, Crimson Metallic, Mahogany Red Metallic, Satin Steel Grey Metallic, Black Meet Kettle Metallic, Summit White, and Vivid Orange Metallic.

Powertrain System

The 2022 Trailblazer in the country carries a 1.3-liter three-cylinder turbocharged gasoline-powered engine that produces a maximum of 155 horsepower and 236-Newton meters of torque output mated to an automatic transmission. The brakes are discs upfront and at the back and use MacPherson strut suspension for the front while torsion beam for the rear.

Exterior

Not only has that Chevrolet Trailblazer evolved from a mid-size SUV to a subcompact crossover SUV, but its exterior has also evolved to a more modern appeal. The front fascia features a large stylish air vent grille with a Chevrolet badge on top and a chrome bar accent at the middle which lies beneath the left and right daytime running lights. The headlights are placed below on the cheeks of the bumper, inside a black housing. The hood of the Trailblazer is slim and wide which complements the aggressive-looking daytime running lights and massive grille.

Unlike its expressive front fascia, the side profile of the Trailblazer has clean and precise body lines which makes it look sophisticated. Mainly, the design language on the side is a couple of blacks and brushed plastic materials on the roof rails that serve as accents to the color of the car. The a-pillar and the upper corner of the rear are black colored, which gives the impression that the roof is floating. The body cladding also comes in black, and the side mirrors are two-toned with repeaters; running across the side of the Trailblazer is a subtle character line that matches the slope of the roof. The wheels are 17-inch black and chrome alloy in 60 series tires.

At the back, the Trailblazer features a compact yet sophisticated style with large taillights that emphasizes the corners which give it a contoured appeal. It also has a two-toned spoiler with brake light, a well-hidden exhaust, a visibility wiper, and sensors on the bumper.

Interior

The interior of the new Trailblazer is a combination of classics and modernity as it features some traits from the previous version while making an upgrade. The dashboard comes in plastic materials with different textures and chrome accents. The steering wheel is heated and is covered in a soft leather material with buttons on it for easy infotainment and driving control. The center of the front cabin features an eight-inch infotainment touchscreen with a Chevrolet MyLink that doubles as the reverse camera. It comes with the standard functions, and it supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.

The seats of the Trailblazer come in soft leather material and has bolstering for the front-row seats; they are also heated and firm. The second row doesn't have air-con vents or charging ports, but it is good that there is no floor tunnel which gives a comfortable leg situation for the rear passenger.

Safety and Security

Chevrolet Trailblazer may have downgraded in body size, but its safety and security features have gotten better than before. It comes with the standard anti-lock braking system with EBD, child safety locks, driver and front passenger airbags, rear passenger airbags, height-adjustable front seat belts, and rear seat belts. It also has door ajar warning, crash sensors, engine check warning, front impact beams, side-impact beams, rear camera, parking sensors, brake assist, seat belt warning, day and night rearview mirror, anti-theft alarm, anti-theft device, central locking, power door locks, and engine immobilizer.

It also comes with the standard Advanced Driver Assist System (ADAS) which includes a distance indicator, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, rear cross-traffic alert, following distance indicator, collision alert. Pedestrian detection, lane change alert, and side blind zone alert.

The Trailblazer also has automatic emergency braking, tire pressure monitor, panic brake assist, brake torque vectoring, rollover protection, electronic brakeforce distribution, engine drag control, cornering brake control, and brake pre-fill.
