During a quick media meeting, Omoda and Jaecoo revealed their model lineup plans for the country without divulging too much information about their specifications and pricing.

One particular car has sparked our interest with the Omoda 5 Electric Vehicle (EV). Unlike its gasoline engine counterpart, the electrified crossover brings more regarding performance and range.

The crossover has similar measurements to its internal combustion engine counterpart. It also has a different design and an overall sleeker look.

Not lacking in self-confidence

What's most interesting about the Omoda 5 EV is its warranty; the vehicle has a 5-year or 200,000 km bumper-to-bumper warranty, while its battery pack comes with an 8-year or 200,000 km warranty, whichever comes first.

Aside from this, the electric crossover also has a low power consumption of just 6.66km/kWh. When driven efficiently, it will allow the vehicle to reach a maximum range of up to 450 kilometers for its long-range variant. You can expect around 350 kilometers on one full charge for its shorter-range version.

As for its power figures, you can expect around 224 horsepower, which can rocket the crossover to 100km/h in about 7.8 seconds.

Charging times for the vehicle are also relatively quick, as it can go from 0 to 100 percent in just 35 minutes with a DC fast charger, which you can use at the brand’s upcoming dealerships.

However, Omoda Philippines has yet to confirm if these DC chargers will be free or if there will be a small fee to use them.

Using its standard slow charger, you can charge the Omoda 5 EV at home. However, it is essential to note that the automaker says it will take approximately 8 hours to charge from 0 to 100 percent.

No pricing for the EV has been revealed yet, but we can expect it to be around the 2 million range.

Would you wait for an Omoda 5 EV for your next crossover purchase?
