2023 Nissan LEAF to go down to ₱1.9 M price range thanks to E.O. 12

2023 Nissan LEAF

The Nissan LEAF (Specs | News) is the brand’s only fully electric vehicle in the Philippines. It initially debuted in May 2021 with an eye-watering pricetag of ₱2,798,000 but brought new technology for cleaner and greener mobility.

However, since the implementation of Executive Order No. 12 in 2023, duties for the importation of electric vehicles (EVs) have been relegated to 0% to make them more accessible to the buying public.

With the new E.O. in place, car manufacturers with electric vehicles already in their lineup have had to adjust their pricing for these cars, Nissan Philippines included.

According to our source, the Japanese automaker is poised to update the pricing of the Nissan LEAF to be at the ₱1.9 million range thanks to E.O 12.

However, it is essential to note that it has not yet been reflected on the brand’s official website as of press time.

New looks, same range

In 2022, Nissan Philippines brought in the refreshed version of the electric hatchback at the Philippine Electric Vehicle Summit. The refreshed version of the vehicle now has a sleek facelift with the new Nissan logo, a restyled V-motion grille that is painted black, and a new smoked finish for the headlights. Aside from this, the Nissan LEAF also gets a new set of alloy wheels.

Like before, the 2023 Nissan LEAF still carries many of the same features as the brand’s Nissan Intelligent Mobility suite. The electric hatchback still has standard anti-lock brakes with electronic brakeforce distribution, brake assist, dynamic vehicle control, a tire pressure monitoring system, hill-start assist, and six airbags.

It also sports an around-view monitor, blind-spot warning, intelligent emergency braking, high-beam assist, intelligent cruise control, rear-cross traffic alert, lane departure warning with intelligent lane intervention, and lane-tracing control.

Aside from this, it still features the e-Pedal, which allows for one-pedal driving of the EV. It works by using the regenerative braking features of the LEAF that automatically slows the car down when you release the accelerator pedal.

The 2023 Nissan Leaf's range has remained the same, however, at 311 kilometers with its 150 PS motor and 40 kWh Lithium-ion battery pack.

Do you think the Nissan Leaf's new lower price will make it more appealing to EV buyers?
