MSCC Miata Spec Series to also race in BRC for 2nd season

Mazda Philippines and the Manila Sports Car Club have announced the race calendar for the second of the MSCC Miata Spec Series.

Billed as the country’s only one-make sports car racing series, the championship will be held over four Saturdays split between the Batangas Racing Circuit and Clark International Raceway. This will be the series' first time racing at BRC.

2023 MSCC Miata Spec Series Calendar

For 2023, there will be new drivers joining the roster. Among them are off-roading, Formula V1, and Vios Cup ace Red Diwa, Isabela Congressman Tonypet Albano, and former AAP Motorsports Committee Chair Mandy Eduque. The grid is expected to reach 22 cars this year.

Last season's overall champion, Allan Uy, returns to defend his title. Angie King and Tyson Sy will likewise continue to challenge Uy as Master Class Champion Windy Imperial and Novice Class Champion Jamal Almario will again fight for respective wins.

All racers are members of the Manila Sports Car Club, one of the country's oldest pure sports car clubs. The Miata Spec Series has been the club's official racing event since 2022. 

Miata Spec Series Mazda MX-5 race cars will maintain identical factory-stock engine and transmission specifications with performance and safety parts from Cusco Japan, Sparco, and Drift Xhaust. This ensures parity and provides close racing action with only the drivers' skill, racecraft, and luck defining their position on the track.

Pilipinas Shell, with its Shell Helix Professional lubricants and V-Power fuel, GT Radial with its Champiro SX2, and new sponsor, B.R.M Chronographes, will support the 2023 race season.
