Hyundai HD78 GT offers up to 19.5 feet of cargo space for your business

If your business needs a big hauler and you’re not too bothered by the Metro Manila truck ban, the Hyundai HD78 GT might be what you need.

Hariphil Asia Resources, Inc. (HARI) said in a February 2023 press statement that its six-wheeler HD78 GT has a 7,800-kg gross vehicle weight and up to seven cubic meters of volume capacity.

It is available in three lengths:

  • Medium Wheelbase (MWB) – 15 feet maximum loadspace

  • Long Wheelbase (LWB) – 18 feet maximum loadspace

  • Extra-Long Wheelbase (ELWB) – 19.5 feet maximum loadspace

Powering the HD78 GT is a 2.9-liter, twin-cam, 16-valve, common-rail-direct-injection, inline-4 turbodiesel pumping out 160 PS and 392 Nm of torque. This is mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox.

Standard power takeoff, safety kit

Much like its little sibling, the Hyundai HD45 four-wheeler, the HD78 GT comes with a power takeoff unit as standard.

This can be used for auxiliary equipment like hydraulic pumps, generators, air compressors, pneumatic blowers and vacuum pumps.

The HD78 GT also doesn’t skimp on safety with its high-strength frame and cab, along with standard anti-collision door beams that minimize cabin intrusion in a side impact.

The truck also comes with anti-lock brakes as standard to allow drivers to make emergency maneuvers while on hard braking, even with a full load.

The HD78 GT offers room for three abreast in the air-conditioned cab, with a multitude of cubby holes to put all sorts of travel items. The cab likewise tilts up 46 degrees for easy maintenance work.

HARI said the HD78 GT comes with a three-year/200,000-km warranty, whichever comes first.

As of press time, the MWB variant starts at ₱1,735,000, while the LWB kicks off at ₱1,778,000 and the ELWB at ₱1,788,000.
