It's in the small details: Mazda CX-90 unboxed teaser released

The Mazda CX-90 is set to launch soon, bringing the brand’s latest hybrid technology and styling.

To celebrate this occasion and to build up hype for the vehicle, Mazda has released a short, unboxed teaser video for the Mazda CX-90.

The Mazda CX-90 is the brand’s first widely available electric vehicle, promising a plug-in hybrid powertrain with a new inline-six gasoline engine. 

While January 12, 2023, was reportedly the unveiling date, Mazda has chosen to reveal the vehicle to the world at a different time. Rumors suggest that Jan 31, 2023, will be the new model's official launch. 

The parts that make it whole

The unboxed teaser video doesn’t show much of the Mazda CX-90. Instead, it shows the bits and pieces that make the vehicle great.

The film shows unboxed vehicle components, with highlights given to the wheels, headlight housing, center console, taillight, and grille.

The video finishes with a wide shot of all of these parts, including the front suspension, engine, and a countdown timer for the launch.

Its official specifications are still unknown, along with its power figures, but we expect this to be revealed slowly in the coming days as Mazda builds up more excitement for the official launch.

Is there more than one powertrain?

Mazda has kept its mouth shut concerning the powertrain options of the CX-90, only confirming the plug-in hybrid setup as an official drivetrain. 

There could be more power options available for the SUV that has yet to be determined.

The Mazda CX-90 will replace the Mazda CX-9 as the flagship model, which means it has its work cut out for it. 

As this is just the start of an expected series of teasers for the Mazda CX-90, we can expect to learn more about the vehicle in the next few weeks until its full reveal.

Mazda has yet to confirm the January 31 launch date, but with the countdown timer on video showing 18 days remaining, it could happen sometime by the end of the month.
