Is the Powertrain Performance of the 2022 Peugeot 5008 Up to Par?

In the past years, Peugeot 5008 has set a standard because of its impressive road performance as a multi-purpose vehicle. As Peugeot changed its classification and became a sport utility vehicle, the automotive industry was eager to know if its performance now will say for itself that it is indeed fit to be an SUV.

The SUV class has been the most popular in the past few years and has evolved and is continuously innovating towards automotive advancement. With that, the 5008 was expected to return an output based on the present capabilities of its rivals in the class. If a vehicle is classified as an SUV, like the 5008, it must reflect in its powertrain performance as it will gauge whether or not it is strong enough to go off-roading with you.

The 2022 Peugeot 5008 carries a 1.6-liter twin-scroll turbo high-pressure engine that is powered by gasoline. It produces a maximum of 165 horsepower and 240-Newton meters of torque output, paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. The 1.6-liter engine seems a little under what is needed for an SUV to run smoothly, but it is surprisingly sufficient. But you can’t expect it to perform beastly on the road as it is in a front-wheel-drive configuration. When you rev it, there is a pulling effect because of the CVT, but it doesn’t affect the entire drive.

It also has what they call - grip modes, including Normal, Mud, OFF, Snow, ESP, and Sand. With these modes, the driver won’t be having too much trouble dealing with the type of terrain he takes as the car itself will adjust depending on the surface, which is helpful and amazing. Speaking of amazing, the best attribute the 5008 has is its suspension, which is one of the best in its class. It has an overall above-average riding comfort.
