Back when I was a kid, having a turbocharger meant you had a car with plenty of grunt. These were the days of the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution 5, the GC8 Subaru Impreza WRX STI, the R34 Nissan Skyline GT-R and even the 993 Porsche 911 Turbo – all high-performance machines that used forced induction to make their magic happen. Nowadays, turbos are popping up even in subcompact sedans like the Honda Civic supposedly in the name of better efficiency and higher fuel economy. But owning a turbocharged

You can’t unsee a Ford Expedition. It has become a sign of prestige and power in the Philippines. Its presence is almost presidential, elitist. It became a common sight on the road through the years as it got bigger, more comprehensive, and classier. And you, in your simple mind, would think what kind of engine is needed to power that moving city block of American ingenuity and class. Well, you can imagine all sorts of things, but at the same time, you can be logical that the engine that chugs u

The Ford Expedition was a great car that not everyone could afford to buy. Starting at a little over four million pesos, it was already like buying two Ford Ranger Raptors or a reasonably priced house in the suburb. Still, people who could afford it do. Ordinary mortals like us think politicians like the Expedition to project power and prestige. Perhaps those who bought it just like Ford's testament to safety and security, space? Or maybe they bought them because they could. In this nitpicker's

Oh say, can you see…? Yes, I can see this behemoth of a car in the middle of the narrow Philippine road! Yes, it's that big! About 18 feet long, seven and a half feet wide, and 6.5 feet tall, taller than most Pinoys. It will crush you by just looking at it. It's chrome and aluminum grill will be the last thing you see. It seems like it's spewing freedom than smoke from its tailpipes. Yes, it's the Ford Expedition. The Ford Expedition is a full-size SUV only comparable in size with the Chevrolet

With a starting price of USD 23,145, it is not only cheaper than the Honda Civic and the Toyota Corolla, but is also one of the cheapest cars in the country. Following the passage of Executive Order 62, Toyota Motor Philippines and Lexus Philippines have slashed prices of their Japan-made hybrid models. Executive Order 62 has slashed tariffs on hybrids and plug-in hybrids made in countries not covered by existing free trade agreement. For Toyota and Lexus, only imported-from-Japan hybrid models are seeing price cuts. Hybrid variants of the Corolla Cross, Camry, Yaris Cross, and Innova Zenix, which are sourced from neighbouring Southeast Asian countri

This is the Mazda EZ-6, a rear-wheel drive D-segment sedan developed in partnership with Changan. It looks like a successor to the Mazda 6, but it’s not, as this is a China-only model. Available either a battery EV (BEV) or plug-in hybrid (PHEV) model, the EZ-6 will go on sale in China by the end of this year. The BEV will have a 66.8 kWh battery while the PHEV will pair a 1.5-litre petrol engine paired to either a 19.4 kWh or 28.4 kWh battery. The BEV will have a claimed driving range of 600 km

Honda just showed off their new, sleeker logo. It's going to start popping up on their electric vehicles from 2026. You know that classic 'H' logo that's been around since 1981? It's been on every Honda car for the last 50 years. Well, they've given it a cool makeover. Honda's really pushing into the future with a plan to go all-in on electric and fuel-cell vehicles by 2040. They dropped the news about the fresh 'H' logo at CES 2024 in Vegas. It's more than just a new look, though. It's all abou

Though it's never been zipping around in the Philippines, chances are you've spotted this adorable electric chariot in a photo or two. It's been the talk of the town in Japan and Europe, but now, Honda Japan's dropped a bit of a news bomb: they're wrapping up its production in January 2024. So, it's adios to the Honda e! Built with love at the Saitama plant, the Honda e's European vacation is coming to an end too. Honda Europe spilled the beans to Top Gear, saying "No more orders for this electr
