Vietnam becomes the first country in Southeast Asia to receive an allocation for the FL5 2023 Honda Civic Type R. Honda Vietnam, in its Facebook post described the Honda Civic Type R as "coming soon." It also announced that the country "is proud to be the first Southeast Asian country to bring home the latest generation Honda Civic Type R super product." (Facebook translation)
Honda Vietnam's post coincides with the Vietnam Motorshow 2022 which will be held from tomorrow October 26th to October 30th. Honda will be one of the main exhibitors at the motor show.
In fact, our Autofun Vietnam colleagues took photos of the Civic Type R display unit as it was being offloaded from the carrier during ingress to the motor show exhibit area.
According to Honda Vietnam, the official reveal of the Civic Type R will take place tomorrow, October 26th, at the Saigon SECC Fair and Exhibition Center. Reports mentioned that Honda Vietnam will price the 2023 Honda Civic Type R at US$ 100,000. Confirmation for this and the official specifications for the Vietnamese market will be available tomorrow after its unveiling at the Vietnam Motorshow.
The 2023 Honda Civic Type R is billed as the most powerful Type R ever, with its turbocharged 2-liter, 315-horsepower engine mated to a precise six-speed manual transmission. It has a 4-mode drive system with +R, Individual, Sport, and Comfort modes, all designed to allow the Civic Type R tunability for the track or the street.
As with previous Honda Type R iterations, the 2023 Civic Type R also has signature red sport seats and genuine aluminum accents that elevate its stature from the rest of the lineup. The Civic Type R will also have a Honda LogR datalogger to record performance data and provide real-time and post-drive feedback to the driver.
Like the Philippines, Vietnam is a left-hand drive car market, and it would be interesting to see if Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. was also able to secure its allocation for the next all-new Honda Civic Type R. Thailand is said to be the next ASEAN country to introduce the 2023 Civic Type R.
