Space and Practicality Comparison: Is the Honda Civic Spacious Enough? 01

The Honda Civic is not an SUV. It is a sedan, and to some, not even a full sized one. So, to the question of practicality and spaciousness of the Honda Civic, it seems like a no brainer, but it is a relevant question. It is relevant because a car that is as wonderful as the Honda Civic can be a real temptation to someone who is already thinking of buying an SUV. Now, this is a NOT a no brainer.

But what about space and practicality while having the best same things on a Civic. While Honda will tell you to buy another car from their line of SUVs, your gut still tells you that you are in love with the Civic. Now, this 2022 Civic is a little bigger, wider than its predecessors, but can it actually provide an alternative to SUVs as replacement?

The answer is 'no'. With 419 liters available in the trunk, there is limited things you can out in a Honda Civic. The good, or surprising news, although, is that most SUVs, the type of what we have in the Philippines, especially the ones which like to put a third row of seats have a space allocation close to the Civic. So the next two questions down the line are: first, “Which would you rather drive?”, and two, “Can the rear seats fold?”

In the case of the Civic sedan, then no, they don't fold like SUVs. But you have 419 liters of space, and if you want to bring a full-sized cooler to a picnic then this car is not for you. You become cooler by driving the Civic, not by bringing things and going for errands. With the space the Civic has, some luggage and a few things can fit, and that is the little price to pay to ride this awesome car.

Well, if only a Civic can have folding rear seats. There is a Civic like that but not in the Philippines currently. The Honda Civic hatchback, just like its little sister the Honda City hatch, has folding seats and can accommodate even more space than some SUVs, but well, sans the passengers. Now that's peachy.
