The Ford Ranger Raptor is like a trophy symbol of masculinity. Some even say it symbolizes something for a man who owns it – a fat wallet. (What were you thinking?) But is it also very practical? Off the bat, I would say "no", because other pick-up trucks can be more practical without screaming testosterone. Although, if you own one already or if you wish to combine practicality and looks, then perhaps this article can reinforce your belief that you made the right call by picking the Ford Ranger Raptor.

The Ride Height

With 283mm of ground clearance and 33-inches of all-terrain tires, the Raptor is one of the tallest personal vehicles out in the Philippine market. Crossing floods and even shallow rivers and streams (for some odd reason that you find yourself in that situation) should be a non-issue. Typical knee-deep floods can be likened to puddle crossing and the Raptor can do water wading for up to 850mm. Its tough chassis and giant bash plate also protects the Raptor with whatever is on the water.

The Terrain Management

The Raptor is born with the Ford Performance DNA, distinctively found in its body kits, suspension system, wheels and more. It's made to be ready. Living in the Philippines where regular typhoons, landslides, storm surges and volcano eruptions occur. One better get ready for every eventuality. The Raptor is like this. It is proven to navigate any terrain in the country. Mud, grass, or sand, the Raptor is ready to move places with its 2.0L Bi-Turbo Diesel engine with a maximum power of 213hp at 3,750 rpm, and a maximum torque at 500 Nm, and 10-speed automatic Flyshift transmission. Being anywhere anytime has its own practicality. Being with a truck that can be able to tow objects and other vehicles is also very practical.

The Space at the Back

The Ford Ranger Raptor has about 800 kgs of payload capacity. There you can out any sort of thing, even fairly sized ATVs, gardening implements, steel drums (because why not), and many more! As more as your mind can conceive. I don't want to be a downer but it's short by about 43 kgs capacity as compared with the typical Ranger, but hey who's counting.

To end, I wouldn't say completely that the Ranger Raptor is NOT practical. It might be LESS practical than its other variants and other pick-ups in the segment but remember that the Raptor is NOT MADE to be practical. Even in the Jurassic Park movies, the raptors are just carnivorous freaks turned heroes – they're a force to be reckoned with. If you want more practicality in a Raptor, we think Ford should change its name to donkey or something. Think about it!
