At long last! You can enroll your Easytrip RFID to Autosweep starting Jan. 15, 2023 01

Motorists with an Easytrip RFID can set up an Autosweep account starting January 15, 2023.

The Toll Regulatory Board (TRB), which is the government agency responsible for managing the country’s toll roads, shared posters from Autosweep owner SMC Infrastructure in a December 14, 2022 Facebook post.

window.googletag = window.googletag || {cmd: []}; googletag.cmd = googletag.cmd || []; googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.defineSlot('/22557728108/ph_article_fourthp_under_pc', [ 728, 90 ], 'div-gpt-ad-1686500526235-0').addService(googletag.pubads()); googletag.pubads().enableSingleRequest(); googletag.pubads().collapseEmptyDivs(); googletag.enableServices(); });
googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display('div-gpt-ad-1686500526235-0'); });

Here’s how to do it:

  1. Download and fill out an application form from the Autosweep website.

  2. Bring the complete application form, one valid government-issued or company ID, and the vehicle with the Easytrip RFID (only the latest neology-brand Easytrip sticker will work) to the nearest Autosweep customer service center or kiosk.

  3. Buy a minimum load of ₱200 for Class 1 and ₱500 for Classes 2 and 3 for the new Autosweep account. This will still use a separate electronic wallet from the Easytrip account.

  4. The Autosweep account will be activated as soon as all requirements have been submitted and the Easytrip sticker passes testing.

SMC Infrastructure, which is headed by tycoon Ramon Ang, operates the following expressways that lead south of Metro Manila:

  • South Luzon Expressway (SLEX)

  • Skyway

  • Ninoy Aquino International Airport Expressway (NAIAX)

  • Muntinlupa-Cavite Expressway (MCX)

  • Southern Tagalog Arterial Road (STAR) Tollway

  • Tarlac-Pangasinan-La Union Expressway (TPLEX)

Meanwhile, Easytrip is currently used in expressways managed by Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC) operated by fellow tycoon Manuel Pangilinan:

  • North Luzon Expressway (NLEX)

  • Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX)

  • Manila-Cavite Expressway (CAVITEX)

  • Cavite-Laguna Expressway (CALAX)

  • C-5 Link

The TRB  announced on October 2022 that motorists with Autosweep RFIDs could register with Easytrip.

Unified toll collection in the works

The latest move by Autosweep is part of the government’s ongoing three-phase project to unify the two electronic toll collection systems in the country.

The Toll Collection Interoperability project began in 2017 after SMC, MPTC, the Department of Transportation (DOTr), and other public and private companies signed a memorandum of agreement.

Phase 1 involves ensuring that Autosweep RFIDs can be read at expressways that use Easytrip using two accounts.

Meanwhile, Phase 2 requires that Easytrip RFIDs can be read at expressways that use Autosweep using two accounts, but one sticker.

The final phase involves using one RFID sticker and one account for all expressways.

Congress has urged DOTr to fast-track the implementation of the project, which had remained at Phase 1 for many years.

Ilocos representative Sandro Marcos, son of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., and Valenzuela City 2nd District representative Eric Martinez both filed House Resolution No. 159 on August 2022.

The lawmakers noted that the full implementation of the project was "long overdue" and causing continued inconvenience to commuters going into and out of Metro Manila.

When do you think the final phase of the toll interoperability project will be finished?
