Yamaha Philippines' Racing Team Suffers Setbacks in ARRC, FIM JRGP

Kyle Paz started from 36th and finished in 14th in race 1 of the 4th round.

Yamaha Philippines rider Kyle Paz started from 36th and finished in 14th in race 1 of the 4th round.

Following an exciting performance in round 3 of the Asia Road Racing Championship (ARRC) in Japan, each rider representing the Yamaha Philippines Racing Team was eager to make their country proud and achieve victory in the international racing arena.

McKinley Kyle Paz of Yamaha Philippines Stylobike Racing Team, April King Mascardo, and Gian Carlo Mauricio of UMA Racing MMR Yamaha Philippines Team were ready to make a splash in their respective races held last weekend in Sepang, Malaysia. The boys at the ARRC were hoping to replicate Mascardo's podium finish from the previous round in Japan. However, they would be denied this victory in round 4.

Gian Carlo Mauricio in racing form

Gian Carlo Mauricio finished third in race 1 of round 4 but because of penalties, he dropped down to 14th.

The Yamaha Philippines' riders were in top form in race one, leading the racers for several laps but finished sixth and seventh. April dropped out of race two, leaving Mauricio to compete against the best of Asia. He would finally manage to finish in the third spot. Yet, his celebration would be short-lived, as penalties lobbed against him dropped him to 14th place. 'The Wonderboy,' Mckinley Kyle Paz, didn't have luck on his side either, as he was relegated to the 36th position on the grid for race one due to a long lap penalty. He did put up a fight and worked his way up to 14th place. In race two, however, he would be dealt a devastating blow as Kyle would leave the race and suffer a DNF (Did Not Finish).

It was a disappointing turn of events for the Philippine racing teams, but it only set up a grand finale performance for their racing seasons. Kyle's FIM JRGP season will close on October 31, 2022, in Valencia, Spain, while April and Gian will conclude their ARRC campaign in Thailand on November 19-20, 2022.
